Story of the Blanks is a short creepypasta fangame created in Adobe Flash. It was created for a game developing contest at Equestria Gaming
( http://www.equestriagaming.com/2011/06/creepypasta-game-contest.html )

The game is constrained to use genuine NES graphics and graphical limitations (down to the very 8 sprites per line limitation). Most if not all the music in the game was created by various people using famitracker (a NES/famicon tracker).

The excellent music was made by

You rock, woohoo!

What the...?

Well, it's hard to say what I think of this, because I didn't understand it. There must be some glitch because I kept trying to go ahead with the trees and nothing happened. Twlight Sparkle just stood there. It kind of reminds me of the old CreepyPasta stories, which the main website is sadly down for the moment. The graphics were pretty good, it's just that it took too long to get scary. I knew I had to play a popular "My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic" game here.

There were thousands of references on the Internet, it had to show up here eventually. While incomprehensible, better players should have more fun with it. The sprites could have been a little better too. It was a bit too talky, but at least you had great mobility with it. I thought it would be about you actually filling in the blanks in the story.

Awesome...plus a few suggestions

This was basically the very first FIM game with an actual plot and ending, than a countinous one to get the highest score
I kinda have to agree this is actually creepier than Cupcakes, due to it isn't even funny the way Happy Tree Friends is with all the gore, due to this game doesn't need gore to be scary/creepy or something like that

It was pretty sudden how from a very colored area it turns to a black-blue one in which Apple Bloom is clearly the only one colored +the change of music, bravo into turning it into a dark twist

There's definately gonna be a fan fiction about this game

All i would of wished was perhaps some secrets or alternate endings, extra-scenes
And i just wanna know if you are gonna modify the sprites for the bone, undead, wraith ponies to look the same as the icon chat, in which they have glowing, fire eyes and some are even red

It was indeed more like telling a story than gameplay but if i'd have to review the gameplay...I'd say that you should definately add more tension moments like where you try to get the boulder out of the way while the bone pony is right behind you
But the wanna-be Flash, Sonic the hedgehog, whatever Pony(the fast one) i'd say you should of put him somewhere else, due to some people don't know how to get past him, but again i guess that's a way to make them replay it, till they finally learn this game is a VOLCANO RUN, aka where most of the time you simply have to mindlessly run for your life, maybe even dodging a few things, the running scene where all the ponies are coming from the ground could of lasted longer or been a bit harder Overall excellent game
Would love to help you test the sequel

I loved it!

I didn't expect it to get so creepy, but it was a nice surprise. Looking forward to more MLP: FiM works!

Great game!

This game was great, it has a really nice look and feel to it. It was really creepy and I'm left wanting more! Was going to give it 9/10 for that reason but i'll give it a 10 in the hopes of getting more!

If I'm not mistaken the curse has something to do with the ponies killing (?) Ruby for getting a cutie mark.

It's nice to see an MLP game being made that has a lot of effort put into it and isn't there to point out the bad things on the franchise.
The graphics are well adjusted to fit the format and the game was nice too.

It was a bit short and it was more of an interactive story than anything challenging. It would have been nice to see some more plotline development and more things about the curse being revealed, if it were just by letting the ponies catch you. Even more clues to be shown that tell the sinister tale.
I don't think it's sequel material, but can give rise to a prequel or a more detailed remake.

Overall, I applaud the serious take on the MLP theme.

BTB: is it based on existing fanfic and if not, would you condone such a fanfic to be written?

Donitz responds:

Thanks for all the positive reviews! It is So Awesome to see so many people liking the game!

The story isn't based on an existing fanfic, but I wouldn't mind there being one :)
