2 Friends Play Minecraft

Hey, how's it going?

Myself and my good friend, "MasterDunx", decided it's been a fair odd while since we animated something, so we decided to put together an animation about Minecraft, as we wisely spent a good majority of this year playing it to death.

Originally this was going to be a quick weekend project, but we really got into it, went crazy, and decided to try and make something out of it. Running time is approximately four minutes and we even went the extra mile to throw in some special extras after the credits.

Hope you enjoy it, as you are THRUST into a magical cuboid world and hear the story of two friends, playing Minecraft.

~Jim's Update 29/June/2011~

I thought Duncan was pulling my leg when he said this was on the front page. Seriously, thank you. I'm sure Duncan will want to make an update later as he'd be lying if he wasn't hoping for this to happen.

Cheers MATES!

Front page? Lush, thanks!

That's it, Duncan? You've got something you've always aspired towards and you have just 4 words to express it?

2 Friends Play Minecraft is now in glorious HD on YouTube! Major thanks to our friend "JB" who got it up there for us!

~Jim's Update 8/July/2011~ Easter Egg Added.

Over 100k views in just a week? Incredible! Cheers for all the kind words too!

Updated the animation ever so slightly to fix a couple of things that were bothering me. Found a file of an Easter Egg we were supposed to put into the animation but forgot to! When Jim successfully acquires a piece of wood from the tree, click on the wood chunklet. This hidden scene was my first thought as to how the sound file could be... err... misinterpreted.

Love it

One question though.
Why is my oading bar on hyperspeed?

Jimbo-Limbo responds:

I really don't know! But it's quite funny.

The part with the sheep and the tree made me laugh so hard, I nearly pissed myself!

that sheep

poor betsy i miss her already

It really wasn't funny at all to me. The animation was alright, along with the sound, but the comedy was really lacking. What it really made me think of was Yahtzee's review of "How to make a gaming webcomic" where he talked about how most of them just apply video game logic to real life for comic effect in a lazy attempt at comedy. Yes, in real life punching a tree would hurt your hand, but not in the game. That doesn't mean it's funny. The comedy timing was really off with things like the ending with the zombies, which made something that could've gotten a chuckle kind of fall flat. I dunno, I just didn't think this aspect was as good as other Minecraft flash like the one with the guy's little cousin playing blocks.

Jimbo-Limbo responds:

I know the Yahtzee review you're speaking of. "You're just jealous because I have balls in my mouth slupr slurp yum yum" right? Anyway, he was slating web comic artists for taking these lazy scripts and trying to become sellouts. We just want to share our silly creation with others, that's all.

Besides, a parody of something generally involves the idea of taking something not right about what is being parodied and exploiting it. It's a pretty low brow form of comedy I'll agree, but christ, we're just a couple of guys who wanted to make a quick flash animation project. We're not professional comedians, animators or script writers, we just wanted to have a little fun. And we did.

that's how you get some wood!!! >:D naah, im just saying that because everyone else sais different, but ... poor betsie... :(
