In the 50's, the CIA led an undercover operation to overthrow Guatemala's uprising Democracy. The reason? It took power out of the hands of the elite, especially the United Fruit Company (now Chiquita).

In Guatemala peasants were struggling and Democracy was arisin
under Arbenz optimistic , on the mend, young and thrivin
giving land back to the peasants and admiring FDR
They were a new world presence on the tracks on the radar
and the united fruit company, decided you see
they just couldn't give up their hegemony
there were cheap banana prices and cheap indigineous labor
they called the place communistic, thought they'd do US a fava
it was the time of the soviets so thats the card that they did use
said the reds are gonna get us and noone called em on this ruse
-and so the CIA they created fear and terrorism
under ed bernays they made a country harrowing
and mind controlled and misled into a revolution
a radio played on underground to create some mass confusion
and annihilated equal rights, equal pay, democracy
the only good was for UFC it was a big hypocricy
in violent resistance over 200 K were murdered
and it was 40 years before the truth was even heard of
in 90 gh bush proclaimed no more foreign aid
but CIA was still right there trying to have their way
-
And so at last the civil war ended in 96
a democracy arose but poverty it still exists
as well as a divide between the haves and have nots
the indigineous are poor, the others are not
and from la antigua all the way up to tikal
the past is still alive, the mayans still dont fall
at this point in 2010 Colom leads the nation
and they continue to fight poverty with earnestness, frustration

Well put together.

I enjoyed this, and have been well informed at the same time.

What I find familiar about this is the style. Reminds me of Fire Coming Out of the Monkey's Head by Gorillaz. Not calling you on it or anything, just observing.

Still good nonetheless.

Virgilcomic responds:

interesting. never seen that tho. thnx =)

well

I can't here shit with that annoying music in the background so I had to see the lyrics ,the animation is a bit off but everything is quite ok and I agree with your views

My kind of movie

Too bad there arent more movies around like this on ng. The only problems I had with this is that the animation sometimes felt empty ( lot of white ). Also the mic
quality was a bit bad when speaking the p loudly.

Otherwise interesting stuff ;)

Virgilcomic responds:

thnx maybe check out some of me other anis

Well..

Really good. I agree with what others have said, that the mic could have used a wind shield or a bit more distance between you and it. It really didn't bother me that much, I thought it was a great (and pretty succinct) telling of the story. I also really did like the mix of banana boat that you had playing in the background. Ended up spending a bunch of time while I should have been reviewing looking for a good mix of it. Anyhow, I thought that the graphics and animation really worked well. It could have used a stop at the loop. Overall very nice 5/5 9/10 keep up the good work.

Interesting

Is this a rap song? The lyrics are pretty cool, and it informs the ugly truth hidden in the pages of human history, too...

Virgilcomic responds:

yeah the instrumental... i'm too white to rap lol, so i didn't try for sounding lame. ty =)
