Up should be allowed to be used as jump. The game overall was pretty easy. I liked the jump mechanics, its very mario-ish. I really disliked that you lost all of your max health powerups when you died. Seems to me the goal should be to get the powerups early on so that in later levels you have more health to help you make it through. Good game, though, none the less. I enjoyed it.
+ This game is really fun, and the speed reminds me of Sonic.
- I don't think you should lose all of your max health boosts when you die, because that led me to losing the rest of my lives immediatly after I first died.
? Also, the characters all look like they're from Spore...
Looks good, but controls need work.
The animation is very smooth and colorful. However, the controls are very loose. Most of the time I feel like it simply luck if I don't die. While the game drives you to move faster, doing so will strip out a lot of tight control you need to keep from dying. A couple simple things will definitely improve it, such as reseting the jumping if you land on an enemy allowing a sort of double jump. Either that or link the amount of rebound you receive from landing on the enemy to whether or not you press the jump button. A small bounce for not hitting it, a normal bounce for tapping the jump button and holding it for a larger bounce.
OK Game, but bad capability.
The game overall was good, but the only things the player could do was walk, jump, and dash, (Which did not provide much help, a glide feature would have been better) and that there was not much to the game.
Overall, OK, though.
Well, summarizing...the graphics are pretty, but the music's not too memorable, but the pieces are melodic and they fit the level. The set pieces are nice and varied, and the animation's not bad on the characters or enemies. I would've liked a more heavy variety of enemies, and the controls are slippery (but nothing you can't get used to). The main problems I had were dashing and platforming...both of which are key elements to the game.
The dashing's not bad, but I wanted it to be a bit longer at times, and until I got used to it, I ended up dying as a result. I also found myself occasionally in a rush of speed, feeling like a badass as I sped through the level, only for a misplaced or mistimed dash on my part to ruin the flow and cause me to get hit. I always had the problem of 'twitch dashing', accidentally hitting the left or right arrow key twice and dashing when I could've easily avoided it by being able to customize the controls...but the second of the dash complaints is partially meia copa, so not much harm done.
The platforming's not bad, but I always felt that I wanted to just speed through the level with the colorful environments...but I often found myself flying off the side of a platform because often times I'd think there was a double jump feature. Granted, it's my own fault...but once I'm used to it, I still end up dashing off the sides of the platform, causing a damage or a death at the hands of a bottomless pit or an enemy.
These two problems could EASILY be avoided by adding a double jump or potentially adding more platforming elements to the game to let me slow down a bit...but the controls and implementation of everything were design choices as opposed to something that someone thought was a stupid idea.
...All in all, it's not half bad, it's just some things irritate me...whether my own fault or the game's. I'll still be playing, and I'll keep an eye out for any new games of yours...but this could have been done better. Apologies.
