Hi all, I hope you enjoy my first Flash game! Feel free to give me some feedback, I have plans to make more games soon as well as a sequel to this one!

A mediocre Asteroids clone

Now, you are FAR from the first person to make a Flash port of Asteroids. But this isn't even a particularly good example of one such clone; the ship is too small in comparison to the screen, so it's way too easy to get hit by the asteroids, and the graphics are rather bland - I'm assuming you took them from a stock images website.

That said, the programming is quite competent and does a good job of emulating the physics of the original game, so you get a 6. I hope to see your next games soon.

zerojosh responds:

Ha! Over on the mochi games forum people complained that the ship was to big so I shrunk it (and all other elements) by 75%. The graphics are original, modeled in Maya (aside from the the graphic in the upgrade shop - that was stock).

Pretty big file.

I don't know, but this seems like a huge file size for this kind of game. I don't really know much about compression in Flash, and I'm not decreasing my rating because of this, but maybe the file size of the music needs to be shrunk a little bit. 2.1 MB just seems too big.
Aside from that, it's okay. The drift is a bit of a problem for me. I would try to maybe slow down the drift a little bit or implement a feature that lets you get rid of it without turning, like a rocket on the front that counteracts the ones on the back to slow you down.

zerojosh responds:

The file is large due to the audio compression, I'll knock it down a few pegs, thanks.
