(This game is now available on Android for free! Find it on Google Play under 'Spike: A Love Story'.)
(And for you medal-grinders out there, you can press ESC to restart!)
It's not easy being a spike-trap. By design, players are supposed to get by you without TOO much trouble. But you just can't do that. After years of seeing the same guy running by, over and over, day after day -- you realize you're in love. Unfortunately, the only means by which you can express this love is by showing him how good you are at crushing him into a tasty broth. Someday, you're sure, he'll get the hint.
This game was made with the wonderful Flashpunk, which made the nightmare of making this a lot less nightmarish, and more of a restless bad dream.
PROTIPS: Be patient. Wait for the right moment to strike! It takes a second or two to reset yourself, and in that time he can escape! Unless there's a powerup he'll never just run straight through.

not too bad...

This game is surprisingly fun and challenging. It's not the most original concept, but that's ok lol. The AI's are nicely done, but once you figure out the ai's patterns, then the game becomes very easy. It's too bad that i haven't completely memorized the patterns yet lol.

Im jay and i approve this game (:D)

Very fun

Definitely a unique game. I love it when something original like this comes out. The first time I squished the guy, I couldn't stop laughing. The ways the guy tries to get by are pretty inventive. The timing was pretty tricky for some of them, but then again I suck at timing games. Great job with this one.

Something this simple shouldn't be so much fun

Amazingly, despite being as simple as it is - this is really addicting and fun. I think through a combination of charm and actually relying on a fair and balanced difficulty keeps it from getting repetitive. The problem with a lot of other reflex games is that their difficulty curve is either non-existant or wonky as hell. I often get tired of reflex games that start off patronizingly easy, and then immediately shove a spike up your arse expecting you to have the reflexes of a hyperactive, nitrous guzzling cheetah.

It was nice that the difficulty here was almost always fair, it still can eventually be beaten by memorizing the proper timing but the difficulty curve is steady and it doesn't change the rules or speed. The survival mode is also a good addition, it's really good for keeping your reflexes sharp.

Then of course there is the charm of it all - I too am a sucker for the retro style, and it's also a nice, dark twist to be a hero crushing trap and it's hard not to smile when you get a crush and the spike trap looks like he's just had the best orgasm of his life. I'd love to see a sequel to this where you get to play as more than just one trap, this is a great start and a really, really fun game.

Great but I need a new keyboard now...

I like the whole one button deal, but the ONE issue that I have is having to CONSTANTLY go through the introduction again....and again....and again.......

Seriously, can we have a "SKIP TO BLOODY FIRST DEATH PLZ?"
