(This game is now available on Android for free! Find it on Google Play under 'Spike: A Love Story'.)
(And for you medal-grinders out there, you can press ESC to restart!)
It's not easy being a spike-trap. By design, players are supposed to get by you without TOO much trouble. But you just can't do that. After years of seeing the same guy running by, over and over, day after day -- you realize you're in love. Unfortunately, the only means by which you can express this love is by showing him how good you are at crushing him into a tasty broth. Someday, you're sure, he'll get the hint.
This game was made with the wonderful Flashpunk, which made the nightmare of making this a lot less nightmarish, and more of a restless bad dream.
PROTIPS: Be patient. Wait for the right moment to strike! It takes a second or two to reset yourself, and in that time he can escape! Unless there's a powerup he'll never just run straight through.

love it

It's always fun to play as the inanimate trap

An incredible example of narrative mechanics. You only know what the spiketrap knows-- no look inside the brain of the player, no explanation of where you are. You just crush. That's all you can do. I feel like you could have done more with the narrative-- I would love to see those two get together somehow-- but as it stands, it's a shining example of what a simple game can do.

I absolutely suck at this,

but I enjoyed it very much, the simplicity and the funny reactions, the constant "DAMN IT!!!" All worth it. 10 Stars. Loved it.

Nice game.

This game is a good idea and it is well put together but to me it seemed a bit repetitive by just pressing the space bar. The graphics in the game were really good some of the best pixel graphics I have seen. The sound effects and music were pretty good but not the most amazing. The humor was not the most hilarious I have seen but it gave me a small chuckle. There were many different and creative ways the people tried to make it across but just being the spike trap pressing the space bar got boring after a while. There could be an option to play as the players. Overall a good game.
