Spiked in a retro style arcade game. The goal of the game is to survive the ever increasing onslaught of spikes and mines in 3 modes. Collect gold to increase your focus meter and you combo multiplier. After you die spend cash you earned on upgrades for your ship.

It may start out easy but it gets harder and harder the more you survive.

There's something about this game

I like it! There's a bug in Gold Rush mode where the score shows up as 1234567890 (and the slider for delay doesn't update either). Controls still feel a bit weird. I think I'm just used to having a little inertia in twitch games, and you can't do that with discrete squares. On the other hand, you can't say "WTH I WASN'T EVEN TOUCHING THAT ONE", so in terms of perceived fairness this was the way to go.

I didn't see much difference in from one mode to another, and while extremely good, there was only one song. As such, the game is just missing something. There are two ways you could go to stretch the gameplay out:

You could fill in some Ikaruga action, with say a red powerup and a blue powerup, which makes you avoid that color spike (but only one color at a time).

Alternately, and I suggest this route because it harmonizes well with the existing design- work the background. It would be crazy fun to do this while the background was trying to distract you, or the spike graphics change, or whatnot. You could even fold a lot of the level information and status updates into the distractions, making them even more distracting. Yo dawg, I heard you like distractions... Anyhow, shiny things are always good. Anyhow, I like where you're going with this.

Thank you for the lengthy review :D, you have so nice ideas maybe a Spiked 2 will come out some day :) . I will fix the bug asap, it can't be exploited in the score board since it's just a display error.

The slider worked for me when I tested it, i will try a few more times maybe i need to hit a sweet spot.

I'm tripping balls Batman!!

Sweet game! Very unique gameplay, tunes and display! I kinda wish there were sound effects, or you made an additional option to use with the 1st gen. 3-D (the Red and Blue glasses), that would be awesome.

BrainZInteractive responds:

There are sound effects ;_; but maybe the song is to loud, i will try to adress that :)
