There's a seriously deep philosophical message here for those willing to find it. One can't help but question the sense of inevitability that permeates everyday life; even within our own culture.
That side, I find the ambiguity of the protagonist rather disconcerting, which I suppose is the statement the author is attempting to make. You, the viewer, wants to know more about this character. A red shirt, denin jeans, brown shoes and cleanly trimmed hair. Is this what defines us? Is this what shapes our preconceptions about other persons?
Where does he come from, who is he, and what does he do? Why can he only go two places? Is he psychologically trapped? Physically trapped?
This flash has spoken loudly to me. It has broken the chains of my identity. No doubt I will now be suffering from many sleepless nights, pondering the existence of purpose and existentialism.
