I thought it was pretty funny. The only bug I ran across was that zombie pigs would occasionally get stuck in mid air (I guess if they are too close to a ledge as they are falling?) which made for some not so sporting shooting in the later levels. Also I think the final boss was the easiest (and the first was probably the hardest because you were still getting used to the game). I didn't have any problems finishing the game at all. The wall jumping is a bit awkward, though I could see how it may be easier for people who don't play games much (at all). I also do agree that the collision detection does seem a bit off, but on the positive side it was uniformly off so it was pretty easy to compensate. I am kind of surprised that 100% of 10-14 year olds would fail that level. But that is ok, those are your stats. I also didn't find the gravity gun overly useful though it was kind of interesting it would be better if there were more puzzles/goals focused around it's use.
Anyhow, overall good game not awesome and it does have a reasonable amount of flaws/areas that could be improved. 7/10 3/5. Keep up the good work.
Wow! Nice design and all!
The game idea was great! I had really fun playing it! BUT I did notice one.. Glitch if you use gravity gun and put the box under the floor you are walking on it will disappear, other from that I loved the game! :-)
This is the aftermath of a design decision to let the boxes flow over the screen.
Otherwise what you could do is stand on a box, grab it with the gravity gun and go box-surfing through the level. It was fun, but got old really quick and broke the mechanics of the game.
The gameplay just doesn't work right. I've played a lot more polished shoot and platform games but this game failed quite badly. For starters, the wall jumping is rather unresponsive making it a problem where precision is needed... secondly, the gravity gun can easily make you lose blocks you need to finish the level if you are trying to shoot a enemy in range of a block. Thirdly, the mechanics for jumping in particular, as well as grabbing certain items like the hook, were sluggish at best. What caps it is the fact your game at the end of level 1 blacks to a simple link to Agame.com. That's it. You can't do anything, can't move to the next level, nothing. I cannot give you any stars for this flash just because of how poorly it played when compared to other flash games, even the really really old ones.
I can see why you're upset about the controls and everything. You were expecting meatboy style precision. The mechanics were simplified to the max so that casual players could pick the game up.
Though if you can PM me a screengrab of what happens at the end of level 1 for you, that would be great. Nobody has that problem from testing.
The game has nice graphics and pretty good gameplay, and the addition of simple 2d box based physics was interesting... But I felt the inclusion of the physics engine didn't really add to the game much... (I only played up to level 4 though). Maybe think about adding more interesting physics puzzles... I also noticed the collision detection was a bit odd at times... it made jumping easier, but it looked really awkward.... I guess it's because of the wall jumping option though (which was a pretty cool addition)... I also noticed a weird glitch were the gun got stuck shooting for a long time while I wasn't pressing anything... But it only happened once.
Sorry if that all sounded over-critical, just thought I'd point it out, but the actual game is solid and enjoyable.
