One Chance is a game about choices and dealing with them.

Scientist John Pilgrim and his team have accidently created a pathogen that is killing all living cells on Earth.

In the last 6 remaining in-game days on Earth, the player must make choices about how to spend his last moments. Will he spend time with his family, work on a cure or go nuts?

There was never an option for me. This is so much greater than me and my family. This is not only about the fate of humanity, but about righting my mistake in the process - the mistake that caused this fate to begin with. Humanity takes priority over my family, or my social life. I will work myself to death if need be, on the off chance i -might- be able to save my race - heck, my planet - from total extinction.

What'd be the point in wasting away with friends or family if none of us would be left to remember it?

Personal views on the game. I might be slightly sociopathic, due to my lack of emotion in this game.
(side note: i was originally going to give it a three star review. Then a three and a half star. Details added at the bottom)
I feel the concept of the game is excellent. The simple art style suits the cause, portraying a bleak and hopeless world where all details fade away from life due to facing the threat of total extermination. Still, There are too few choices to make the game meaningful - It's blatantly obvious you can either choose to spend your days rotting away, presumably "happily", with your family or friends, or you can work yourself to near death to save whatever's left of your race. Massive bonus points for being extremely realistic - it made it possible to predict that, if you were to choose to spend your days with friends and family you would be forced to watch them die before your eyes (i do not know for sure - i chose to work my butt off to save whoever i could.) I assume your family would die while you are with them, and you would end up dying yourself, possibly as the last person on earth. I wont google the alternative result due to you choosing to design the game to be a one-playthrough thing. I've used my chance.

A very dark plot, which only gets grittier the further you get. The emotional stress on the protagonist must be intense - the weight of his entire race, his entire world, and all the deaths he unwillingly caused. And it'll only get worse - in my ending, for all they know he and his daughter are the only humans left. Even if they werent, they'd most likely never be able to locate any other survivors that has been sheltered from the plague. It pains me to say that the only bright sides are plants surviving and him being able to save his daughter - a massive relief, until the poor John realizes she is their only way of continuing their species.

+0.5 stars for the extreme, gritty realism. +0.5 stars for the ending, one little sparkling light in a world now only filled with darkness.
