I prefer not to say too much about the game, as discovering the details for yourself is part of the experience. My personal thoughts about the game and its history are in the afterword, but interpreting its meaning is up to you. Everything in the game is there for a reason.

The Infinite Ocean is a Myst-style point & click adventure game. It's fairly big for a flash game, and has a lot of story, so to enjoy it you need to take your time.

You interact with the environment by left-clicking.
To turn left or right, move your mouse to the edge of the room and click on the arrow that appears.
The main menu appears at the top of the screen when you move your mouse there.
For more detailed information, read the Instructions/Help screen in the game. (Highly recommended!)

The Infinite Ocean

Is the Ocean hope? is it humankind? Is it Intelligence? Morals, beauty, dreams, life? Is it all that together? The Machine could understand all of those things, completely, as one single thing. I admit that the story was a little confusing, for you never actually know who the perdon you are playing as is. Is it the Doctor? Is it the Machine? Did the machine have a body, for that purpose? Was it not just a computer? Is it the "I AM" ending the machine talking, which is what I think, being left in the world where nothing is anymore, for humankind is gone? Is the hope he talked about mad hope? For if he killed everyone, and kept going on, only thinking about hope, he was talking about the same hope that killed everyone.
Was it the doctor leaving, quoting the Machine, saying "I AM", alone in the world, expecting to die? Or has humankind survived?
The ambience is very Portal like, being even more sorrowful, quiet and meaningly deeper. Music, colours, rooms, everything was perfect. And the afterword; I have no words for it. I HOPE (pun, yay) I can see you in the Infinite Ocean, fighting the voices in the walls.

Functionally it's a point and click. You point your cursor and click. (Please note: The base mechanics of the game work.) The atmosphere was great, dark, unsettling when you think about where everyone is, strange when you consider that everything is just a touch to 'just left there'. Music helped a lot with that. I got turned around a couple times in the game but never to the point of utter frustration. (It was only mild.) The story. I can't do it justice. I'll try. It was beautiful and intelligent. It was imaginative and powerful. It was funny at times and utterly devastating at others. (A personal favorite were the little 'fail safes' it put in place in case of its --------). It was philosophical. But while at points characters seemed to run together, I didn't care. It was beautiful. It was a beautiful story about life. It was a beautiful story about hope.

I have played your other game, "The Book Of Living Magic" and I can truly say that I played this and the same quality comes to me. You seem to never stop amazing me with your games. 4 words for you: YOU ARE SIMPLY GOD

A game with the depth of an MC Escher painting

Gameplay-wise, a simple point and click adventure, same style as those that I grew up with. Quite easy and fun to click around in. The atmosphere, though, really sets this game apart: the haunting music, grey tones, subtle shadows, and lonelyness all really come together to emply the opressiveness, despair and loneliness that I feel you were trying to convey (for good reason, it turns out). When you say it's "Myst-style", you're not kidding: within the first few minutes, my mind turned to that wonderful series that let me experience worlds beyond imagining and concepts that I'd never encountered before.

And just as the big picture is done well here, so too are the little details that add to the atmosphere and draw you in: my personal favorite was reading one of the entries and glancing at some of the "garbage" text, when with a start, I realized the garbage said "help"! And just like that, I was forced to rethink what was happening in the game and what I'd learned up to that point, see it in a different light. And I wanted to know more, if only to see if my new thoughts were right. Splendidly done, and quite amazing.

But even beyond the atmosphere, the story and text take the center stage and spot light. "This is weighty subject matter for a game." = understatement of the century. When I was done playing, I could do nothing but sit and stare as my mind went completely blank over what has just happened and what I'd experienced. To tackle that many concepts, all at once, and to have them all weve together in such a creative manner-such a feats defy all words but one:
