Endeavor is a game about a dwarf trying to uncover an ancient secret. Or maybe it's about exploring, climbing, and swimming. Or perhaps it's about collecting powerups and treasure. Or possibly it's just about killing things.

With multiple endings, quests, interactive npcs and ambient critters, it's my most involving game yet! It features many original musical tracks, several upgrades, and an engaging climbing and endurance scheme.

Left/Right arrows to move
X to jump
Up/Down arrows to climb
P to pause and display collections
C to advance text
Q to return to the title screen (Use this if the game gets stuck for some reason!)

Volume controls:
-/+ to adjust volume
0 to mute

This game was made in one month for the Ludum Dare October challenge, though it took another month for release!

Note: Once you've reached an ending, you won't be able to get a different ending without restarting the game. Don't worry, getting the other endings is much faster when you know where everything is!

Update: Some people are getting lag whenever they touch a flower- this is due to an auto-save feature that I've decided to remove (note that the game still autosaves whenever you collect a powerup or switch screens, just not on touching flowers anymore). I've submitted the latest version which should get approved soon, so bear with me! Thanks for playing!

Update 12/2: There seems to be a bug with running out of endurance underwater and getting trapped in air bubbles. I'm working on fixing it! If this happens, press Q to return to the main menu, and then reload your save file.

Update 12/3: Patched to fix the underwater bug, pressing escape now pauses AND unpauses. Added tip menu screen to press p to see collections. Also added an additional creature on the island above the light beam. Hopefully the update goes live soon!

Update 12/11: Added a link to a full map of the game, see above!

Its more frustraiting than anything. I dislike the controls why cant the up key be the jump button? The graphics are just plain tiny the whole indurance thing is not well explained. I honestly don't think that this would make the front page if it did not have medals. Next time improve the graphics (Bigger so I can actually see the guys and stuff and make the up key the jump key or even just the space bar)

Excellent design

It's been a long time since I actually wanted to finish a Flash game. The fact you cannot die combined with the endurance mecanism is simple, yet pretty effective. I didn't try a different ending yet, but I probably will, thus I think the game wouldn't suffer a lot if there was no choice. I admit it adds some deep, however.

I really like the overal level design. The progression is quite zelda-esque, but we all know it works, and it's well tweaked. Dialogues are minimal yet contribute to create a living world, and the flowers concept is both poetic and useful. It's a polished game, well done, really.

Hey this was great!

So yeah, it's completely pixelized, it's not like you go on the internet for great graphics anyway! It's great, not too long (seeing as how you'll be wanting to play it 3 times) and well, story could've been better but i liked it. It has a certain feel to it that makes you want to play 3 times, not essentially because of the different endings (although that does allow for some more replayability) but just because of the feel this game gives you.

The controls aren't properly explained and I don't understand why these 16-bit games are getting so much popularity this christmas. Seriously this game is really badly thought out and wtf is with the music...?

Honestly this isn't worth the ratings it's getting at all and if this is the future of the front page of newgrounds then I'll just delete my account now.

this game is way to fucking long, its shitty graphics, terrible music, bad story, and when i got to the top of the cliff without malors help or killing creatures OR killing any animals,
if teleported me down to malor, i didnt even fal, i was just walking and then i was under malors stone thingy!
