Sorry it looks a bit rough but it was done with a number of adobe suit programs and intended to be a stand alone short film. As such, though it was animated and created in flash, it's been a process converting and cutting it back down to a flash format.

good work

the story was nice and simple and one i haven't really seen before. the polish on the whole film was astounding. good work! the backgrounds, and the characters all looked great. i can't really find anything wrong visually.

the pacing of the film and the sounds are something that need work i think. it was kind of confusing in the beginning and i'm not sure why a scarecrow monster killed his own kind. are there any other 'good scarecrows'? or is there only one 'monster' scarecrow? i was just kind of confused by that. the sound effects, like the wings flapping in the beginning, could use a bit of work to make it more engaging.

but overall it was great and the visuals were perfect for what it was. can't wait to see what you do next.

Kaloian responds:

It was hard to find accurate sound effects to fit the scenes and I found myself force feeding a lot of things. The original concept was an origin of scarecrows if they were more of a "being" rather than a creation but that was WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY to much exposition and not enough ACTUAL story. He's not so much a "good" scarecrow as a neutral scarecrow that found a different path. The other scarecrow killed him because thats just who he is, he kills and hurts anything that gets in his was. The other scarecrow was simply unfortunate.... that was kinda involved, I'm sorry, but thanks again for the nice words.

I blame you...

... for making me have to sign in. I never bother signing in unless I have to. And then i saw your flash and thought, "Crap, that's like 'Secret of Nymh' quality/style animation with a Tim Burton style of story." So I had to sign in and make a comment on how well you did both with animation and non-verbal storytelling. Usually I like to save it for Brackenwood or Cyanide & Happiness, but now I have to do it for this one too. Damn you.

Kaloian responds:

LOL, thanks. It was my goal in life, take several seconds away from each individual. I keep them in a jar! and then, at the end of week, I throw it at bad videos before they can wast my OWN time. It's been working out pretty good for me so far... Thanks for putting me on the same plane as brackenwood and cyanide and happiness, thats a big complement.

Pretty sweet

10'd for being awesome. Despite it's flaws (it has a few previous mentioned, but nothing that breaks it), it's a good fun watch. And really, what more can you ask for? Good job!

Kaloian responds:

thanks, I'll work on the flaws for other projects :D

Great flash loved the graphics (watched better quality one) but it brought out so many questions was that big thing another scarecrow? whats the deal with a hive of scarecrows being right being the golem/scarecrow?

Kaloian responds:

the big thing was also a scarecrow. I debated putting a stand for it as well or different expositional opening but I felt it was better to just get right into it. I'm not sure what you mean about you second question but it's not so much a hive as a close by scarecrow or a scarecrow thats too young to have his own area yet. Thanks for the score
