ColourTris is a game where you have to match colours that combine in order to score points.

The colour combinations are based in the colour wheel and you can play the game with additive colours (lights) or subtractive colours (paints, dyes). ColourTris is a fun way to learn colour theory and what colours combine with each others.

To start playing first choose if you want to play with "lights" or "paints", then what type of colours harmony you are looking for and finally click the play button.

Try matching lines of colours, the longer the better. Remember that the colour match starts around the the last block placed and not how thing look after it is placed.

Keyboard Controls:
Left Arrow: Move block left
Right Arrow: Move block right
Down Arrow: Move block down
F1: Help/Pause

The game has the following languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese and Catalan.

Enjoy! :-)

This game does not provide any clues as to what the player is trying to accomplish. What constitutes a successful vs. unsuccessful color match is rather vague. And what is supposed to happen when you get a successful match? Simply put, this game is not fun because the player cannot identify what he is trying to do.

Hi,

First of all thanks for your feedback. Maybe it is not straightforward to see but when you are playing you have the "compatibility" hint on the right of the screen. That shows you the wheel of colours with a red line marking the colour of the block that is coming down and black lines marking the colours it matches to (grey for the ones that don't match).
You choose which "colour harmony" to use during your game right at the beginning, on the main menu, with those toggle buttons with colour wheels showing the same type of info.

Of course the monochromatic colour combination means that each colour only matches itself, with the complementary you have colours that are opposite that match. And as you progress you are going to unlock other combinations with up to four colours that can match.

I hope this helps,

Ivan.
