Battle Raven introduces the story of a fresh grad of the Battle Raven Mercenary Academy (BRMA). The groups origins are not revealed yet, they are only known to have left their home planet in a hurry.
In need for fresh meat and resources the high officials decided it is better to feed less mouths and focus more on potential.
In their quest for riches and technological advancements the Ravens stumble upon the prefect opportunity. A once large empire is defending it's last ground against the Borgon Invasion. The Ravens agree to help them in battle and here's where you come to sort things out.

Please don't rate unless you pass level 7... I know the good players will find it way too easy in the beginning but hey!!! I also got "this is too hard for feedback". It's hard to please everyone.

Looks like no one wants me... stick with the w/e else. I simply tried to bring some decency in the Shooters section but it seems like this site has already enough or simple don't need any.

Cheers!
God Bless.

Awesome!

Good, but way difficult

Good animation. Nice music. I really like the storyline, but I could never get far enough to see more than the first two messages. My main problem with this game is it's incredible difficulty to me. There are two kinds of difficulty, the kind that makes the game take a lot of work to complete, and the kind where it will always feel like luck no matter how long you play. This game's difficulty was largely the latter to me. The large boxes were the main annoyance. They we're basically a no-win situation to me. I either let them be and got extremely shot at, or destroyed them and was set on by an indestructible pain-in-the-thrusters. I think that you should at least be able to destroy the bouncing spheres with the supernova blast. Of course, it could just be that I lack the coordination to win at this kind of game.

In summary:

Animation: 4/5 (nothing fancy, but gets the job done)
Music: 3/5 (it's ok. nothing special, but not bad either)
Gameplay: 4/5 (it's been done before, but there's a reason for that)
Story: 5/5 (very engaging and intriguing)
Difficulty: 2/5 (too hard, but could be just me)
Overall: 4/5

Overall, very nice. It certainly has potential and I hope to see more from you in the future. :)

ChrisP-NG responds:

Destroy the bouncing balls? Oh bummer... I should have known people don't even put the mouse over the info/instructions button in games. I think you're referring to the in-game power-ups. The blue one gives you 100 bullets of 2+ attack speed rate and 1+ level of damage, the green one repairs your shield, and the red one gives you an extra novas. The bonuses get reset to w/e the current upgrades at each start of the level so waste your novas on the bosses if there are any remaining.

In terms of difficulty a lot of people said it's easy ... there's a guy that in US that scored 300k+(must lose no life abuse stuff that bosses throw at you and u can score on, etc.)... now I have to replay and make sure I claim the first rank again :).

In terms of the story I had a really good idea in mind over the past week-end. Should be long enough for a trilogy. If you read the description I only leave a hint that the Raven fled their home world in a hurry.
I like the ideas of AI and computers gone wild (Terminator or Matrix) so in case it's worth making another one at least in the third one there's rage against machine.

still needs some work

1. the graphics are flat i.e. some background objects are hard to distinguish from the foreground
2. needs a continue option of some sort or else upgrades are useless.

ChrisP-NG responds:

Thanks for the suggestion Jake. I started the project with Arcade Shooter in mind: quick 30 minutes of therapeutic explosive experience with a hint of the ol' style rock. Saving the game in AS2 is not really my focus right now + I want it 1 coin arcade win and it's really not hard. I'm moving towards AS3 and saving the progress looks simple enough (it's much closer to what I'm used in Java so I hope I'm going to like it more + the speed tricks).

I feel that you are right about some things. I've been tweaking a lot in the past month. Now that I brought it to a finish I came to realize that there is indeed stuff I can improve in a sequel (if worth making one).

Great game!

The visual is really cool, the controls are perfect, the music is nice and the story is awesome.
=D

Whell in my opinion this game is pretty nice
