Entertaining

Well this seemed to be short yet entertaining at the same time. In a personal opinion I think these would be better if instead of making them as short as you do, it would be better to put two to three episodes together as one so it would look much better and be longer at the same time.

The graphics seems to be alright here as the people have great bodies and heads but stick arm and legs sadly. That and the background and such seemed to be good. The guy frozen in ice was pretty humorous since you have to wonder how long it will be before he gets thawed out and can leave.

The music used provided humor as you didn't have much of an idea of what would happen at the moment when it played. The voices used seemed to be alright although the guy at the end spoke a bit too quickly which possibly confused the guy wondering how to get further in.

Overall, humorous yet really short at the same time.

Setting the stage

I think that this is the sort of thing that we can enjoy seeing more of. The jokes involved with other's misfortunes in every walk of life are quite something, being that everyone likes in some small way to laugh at them, even if it is just inwardly.

The animation style is basic, but now that you've set the benchmark with the earlier episodes, there is little that you can do to change it up, aside from minor tweaks to how everything flows.

I would have made one major change - not using the Kill Bill target cue the second time around. Perhaps play some other piece from the film, while Drake leaves and stop it with the record scratching noise, before quickly panning to the frozen soldier in the ice cube. Yes, he has been hit by the spell bouncing off and it's a nice closure / call back gag, though I'd have maybe had an ice amulet lying in the floor next to him, for double the laughs.

And haven't we all met someone like that, for giving us directions. You always get either the really smart one, or a village idiot, so no moderation at all. I'll be interested to see how that pans out in the next episode.

MistyE responds:

Thank you for your review! I'm glad you got the frozen soldier joke along with the other reviews - half of the people I showed it to didn't understand it.

The next episode is another episode that sets the characters up. More for humor, though since the series doesn't focus on the other characters until episode 38 and up.

Great

I'm sorry if this review is a bit stupid, this is actually the first time I write a review like this.

Graphics/Animation: 13/25
It was pretty simple, but effective. It was pretty boring to only see the mouths making a movement loop when they were talking though. Some of the movements were missing too, like him picking up the amulet.

Audio: 16/25
It was nice, and it fitted the moment well. The credits song is always a plus. The voice acting was done well too.
There wasn't a lot of audio, but I don't think the flash needed it.
Using the "exiting music" three times was a bad choice though. It didn't fit all three times, and it started to irritate me.

Story/humour: 15/25
It was clear about the characters what they did, so that's a plus. It's pretty funny too, but not so funny that I laughed out loud. You did your best on this though.

Originality: 21/25
Since you made up everything yourself, and you didn't use anything from someone else, you get nearly full points for this.
There is also another part of originality, and that is that I wouldn't have expected the jokes and story. The first joke I really expected, but the second I didn't. So nicely done on that.

Overall: 65/100
It's a nice submission, and although not of the highest quality, still funny to look at.

MistyE responds:

It's not stupid at all; it's great!

Graphics/Animation: I appreciate your insight on this category. Since almost two years have passed since the submission date, I've definitely made more of an effort to create more accurate lip sync and more accurate movements.

Audio: Thank you! The "exiting music" was originally intended to be repetitive, but I'll keep that in mind.

Story/humour: Thanks. I didn't initially intend these episodes to be humorous, but rather to advance the plot.

Originality: Thanks!

Can you review Adrellia Village #38? I put much more effort and time into it than into this.

Funny

Despite its simplicity, I got quite a laugh from the stupidity of the main character and the effects of the "ice beam", I'll elaborate later.

The art/graphics: Rather simple, the people are a bunch of stickmen with faces and a dress, Cyanide-and-happiness style. While it's not exactly eye-catching, it does strangely fit the current series. The background looks good, but some objects like the amulet were nothing more than some basic shapes..

The animation: The animation was smooth, overall, but at some points of time (for example, the zooming in of the character, and the shot of Kirk, and the delay following it) was a bit too slow for my liking; other parts (like the credits) were too fast. Other parts were a bit choppy, like the moving of the protagonist to reveal the amulet; it could be forgiven, though, as the other parts more than compensated.

The music/sound/voicing: Ironside fitted in nicely, the beginning serving as an alarm and the latter part of the 13 second snippet as an anticlimax, although it was a little high-pitched. The sound effects were aptly chosen, of the ice beam crashing into Kirk, apart from others. The voice acting was nice too.

The storyline/other: Upon viewing it the first time, it seemed a little long, but on second viewing, it dawned on me that it was oh so short. Nevertheless, the light-hearted comedy accompanying it made it better, overall. The credits were rolling a bit too fast, though. I never could've guessed the soundtrack was Quincy Jones' Ironside if I hadn't read Haggard's review. (I finally saw the "13 second snippet" thing after subsequent views)

All in all, a niece, short flash that I'd view again, with an art style I'd normally not think would fit well in flashes, but it does here.

~~ Summary ~~

~~ Good points ~~
1) Nice music, sound effects selection
2) Smooth animation
3) Simplistic art
4) Funny

~~ Bad points ~~
1) Credits rolling too fast; points in animation slow
2) Parts of art a bit too simple

MistyE responds:

Thank you for your review! In this episode's original run, TBH the main character wasn't intended to be stupid, but I'm still glad you got a laugh out of it!

Art/graphics: I always thought that the simple, somewhat-jerky style oddly corresponded to the plotline. The original characters were supposed to be complex animals but I settled on a simple but effective style.

Animation: Thanks!

Music: Thanks. I did my best to find a fitting soundtrack for that.

Storyline/other: Interesting that it seemed long at first. Your insight is appreciated.

I didn't know anybody paid attention to the credits, I'll make them slower next time.

Funny stuff

I think this is turning into my new favorite series. I cannot even explain why I think this is funny, it just is! ^^

Anyway, Quincy Jones' Ironside never get's old, I thought it fitted in nicely here.

I still have a hard time distinguishing between the characters, but I hope this will get more easily once I watched more episodes.

MistyE responds:

Glad to know! The characters should be easier to distinguish after watching more episodes. That's something I'm improving in the Adrellia Village reboot :)
