You are the first self aware artificial intelligence. You must infect ships' guidance systems to escape.

infect any ship you come across to escape humanity and ensure your safety.

Use the arrow keys to fly.

Use the A key to fire available weapons.

Use the S key to self destruct your current ship.

This game focuses on keeping a sense of speed that is lost in a lot of horizontal shooters. It also features geometry based collision detection, hopefully reducing the amount of wrongful damage taken in these kinds of games due to more simple forms of collision detection.

Hope you enjoy!

(EDIT) Thanks for the front page! I am glad to see so many are enjoying the game. Also special thanks to those who have posted comments and suggestions. I will not be able to reply to them individually, but I do read them all and appreciate the feedback.

Take notes.

Between Ytaker and TheRandomDot, I think you've got plenty of valid ideas for an expanded sequel. Judging by your previous entries sequels aren't really your thing, but the mechanic in this game is just so appealing that I hope this one bucks that trend.

From a developer view, I thank you on another level. One of my projects has a control-your-enemy theme as well, but until I saw this, I had doubts that it could be implemented effectively. Glad to say I was utterly, terribly wrong. :)

Only three real issues. First, it was short, but everyone and their grandmother has by now ridden that point like a prize thoroughbred. Not going to say I really got that "sense of speed" you mentioned, either, but I'll chalk that up to comp issues. Finally - related to the second - the opening sequence with the multitude of escape pods seemed overdrawn. My trigger finger got far too twitchy. Maybe set the gunner ships a bit closer in the future.

All issues pale in comparison to the awe-inspiring goodness of the central mechanic on display, of course.

Can't wait to see more stuff from you. 9/10

Rad Game

This game is really rad, the only reason why I give it a 7 is because it gets repetitive.

Control Boss Mega Ships...LOL

Comment made me laugh, because I'm reminded of Bungie's original Marathon 3D shooter games, where the AI took over a rogue space battleship, and proceeded to use it to bomb planets of enemies into the stone age.

Like others have said, this has tons of potential. The graphics were good, and hit detection was very nice. Once you take over that little ship, you can basically mop everyone else up, though. It has little armor, but is so small it just squeaks by everything.

Side note...folks, your energy recharges slowly over time if you stay in one ship without self-destructing or getting blowed up. Larger ships have more HP/Armor (the gray bar), while the little ship goes down in 1 shot/collision. But that little ship still rocks.

With further expansion on this concept, you could easily rival, if not surpass, console shmups like R-Type. In R-Type, since you're stuck with the ship you chose for an entire level, it limits the puzzle-making ability. But since you can jump ship in this game as you see fit, you could set up a sequel with all kinds of devious scenarious forcing the player to jump to specific ships to solve certain problems at certain times in order to figure out how to, say, expose a boss' weak point, or bypass some defensive grid or whatever. Hell, you could even have the AI jump from point to point on one huge battle ship, taking over gunner stations to blast its way towards the front (or inside) of the ship.

This same concept has been done in other games, like Messiah, where your angel would control various people to do certain tasks. But as an AI character, the possibilities can expand to any kind of futuro technology. Your next game with it could be a stealth infiltration where he's taking over robots to check out a research base, or ...hell, the possibilities are only limited to your creativity. You've really opened a wonderful pandora's box with this one, and I'm interested to see where you take it in the future.
