It's been a while since I completed any kind of flash animation. I was able to do this because I told myself from the beginning that it was only a scene, and not a whole plot. The point was to try to capture the emotion of a certain place and situation. I originally intended to add some music but I thought that just the sounds gave it enough of a captivating feeling already. I hope you enjoy staring at it for a while and absorbing the ambience, and I hope to possibly make more of these in the future. Enjoy

I liked it. And i agree this is art.^^

But i think it shoud be called: Breathing Pollution.
X]

Cayler responds:

Yes, that would be a good title. I think the sound of the city does give it a little bit of a polluted feeling. lol But when I envisioned it, the focus was only on the character appearing to be ready to jump off the building, thus Contemplating Suicide.

it's like a GIF with an extra dimension: SOUND

yeah its a simple loop...
but not just a loop;

Cayler responds:

It also has a play button, which you can't put on a gif

Not enough going on.

I like the concept: trying to express a feeling without really focusing on the plot. However, there simply wasn't enough in the way of animation. If the background had been more detailed and there was more animation, it would have been much better. That said, I like the way you used sound effects.

Cayler responds:

I understand. I wanted to get it done fast because I'm always busy with other things, but if I had the time, I was going to put all sorts of bg stuff in it. Like flickering lights in the distance, cars on the road, a piece of random paper floating through the air, birds in the distant sky, you name it, I was gonna put it in. lol

Woah. Dude!

He looks totally stoned, so unless that's the idea, try for a smaller mouth and put more emotion in eyes.

Though, even if you would, it's only one scene with not that much to it. Sound was moodsetting, I admit it, but artwork was not on par.

Good luck with your next work!

Cayler responds:

Thanks, I think a big part of the bad art aspect is that I'm drawing with such awkward tools. I basically have to draw everything over and over again until I get something that looks acceptable and just keep it. My art would look a million times better if I had something like a touch screen, or decent pen and tablet.

Neat!

I like it, it's a cool idea, but you should find some way to break up the monotonous breathing. Have it set on a random interval timer or something so it's not so rhythmic.

Cayler responds:

Yeah, the breathing used to sound even worse and I worked with it to make it less rhythmic than it used to be. But I agree that I should have made it much more random, but also my original intention was that he was really torn with whether or not to jump so he had heaving breathing, that would have been mostly rhythmic in a real life situation. I also realize that his expression doesn't match a state requiring him to pant so random breaths in this case would have been better.
