The music should be better. Background looks terrible. Jumping can be laggy.

It's not bad for a first try.

Good try man, though listen to the other guys advice.

Uh, is this a game demo or just testing flash?

This game gets 1 star because it functions. But I never want to see the full version come to life, this was not good at all. Seeing as I am a new developer too, I want to give you suggestions instead of just being a jerk.

Things you need to work on (at least in this demo alone):

1.When you die, make it possible to restart the game. I tested out death, and it just shows game over, without any way to go back.

2.The collisions were not useful at all. I could jump through the back of platforms. If you want to do that style of platformer, where you can jump from underneath platforms, at least make the character in front of them and not behind.

3.Level design? I didn't see any. All you did was make technicolor boxes and place them randomly, with enough space to walk beneath them and far enough apart that you actually have to jump.

4.The music does not make any sense in the context. Why choose Masterchief as your protagonist if you are going to have (whatever artist) pop music in the background? It's not even that great of music to begin with....

5.The enemy in level two does not move far enough, making it impossible to get by without being damaged.

6.There is no point in having Masterchief, a soldier (holding a gun), if you never use it and there is only one enemy to shoot out anyway.

Overall, it would look much nicer if you spent more than 5 minutes on the backgrounds and art. The characters used were all taken from somewhere else, and this game doesn't innovate at all in the area of platformer. A good one takes time and patience, and planning I guess. I suggest using something like Gamemaker 8.0 until you get a good handle on what developing a good game looks like. Then maybe you can start using flash, since it is much much more complicated than Gamemaker.
