Explore an infinite dream world. Survive an endless nightmare. How far can you fly?


Fly to the right!

Tap the arrow keys to flap your wings. Hold the right arrow to drill through walls.

Everything that moves will try to kill you. Try not to let that happen.


Flydrill is a game I first played in a dream, in October of 2008. When I woke up, I vowed to turn my dream into a real game. Now, after more than a year, it is finished. I hope you have as much fun playing it as I have.

I did all the design, programming, graphics, and sound effects for this game. But I couldn't have done it without some awesome free tools - Flixel, FlashDevelop, Paint.NET, and sfxr. Many thanks to the creators of those free tools!

Newgrounds' very own SineRider wrote the music for this game. Over the past year, this song is what has kept me in touch with the memory of my dream. Many of the details you may notice in this game were first imagined while listening to this song, eyes closed. Thank you, SineRider.

I hope you enjoy the game. If it proves popular enough, I have several more features I'd like to add, including replay sharing and a deeper story to explore for those who are so inclined.

A dream come true...

You took a dream and made it real. That is not only commendable but a worthy goal. I hope one day others will realize what it means to take one's dreams and make them real... it's an inspiration.

And that's not even getting into the game which has nice mechanics, though I'm not fond of how the drill works. Please, share story elements!

Cheapskate Gamer review

I gotta say this is a fairly good game.
Controls: Simple and completely functional. No probs there.
Graphics: Again simple but very nice. Only once did it glitch. No probs there.
Story: nonexistant. I find the lack of general information annoying. The lack of a story is only a basic loss to this kind of game though. The real problem is the lack of any other information. You say in your desc. that the colours make a difference. What is it? And what determines single or double rings?
Music: Music's okay if a bit repetative. Not great but not terrible.
Overall: Good work. It's a good game. I will have to remember you.

Sorry about the lack of information. I'm planning on adding some text that appears to explain the colors when they change. Basically, the colors control the enemy distribution rates. Red means more gunners, green means more diggers, blue means more puffers, and the lighter the color the more swarmers there are.

The double halo has a random chance of appearing when you drill through a halo block.

I'm also working with a writer on a story for the game, but I don't know how long it will take. I'll let you know when it's done.

I've added portal messages that explain which enemies you are likely to find based on the colors. See if that helps. :)
