This is the first game I ever made, all you have to do is dodge icicles by moving left and right. It's simple, but it's very addicting (I think). Enjoy, love to hear comments, good or bad. I added high scores as of 10/7/11.

You're off to a good start!

The game looks nice and is playable, although rather boring. There's not much else to do aside from moving left and right. But I've got to give you credit for being funny: I saw the hidden message on Joe's shirt!

On that note, the graphics are pretty decent. I think it would be nicer if more of them were hand-drawn, but as an artistically challenged person, I understand how annoying and time-consuming it can be to create good-looking graphics on one's own. To your credit, you seem to be pretty comfortable with the basics of Photoshop!

However, the collision checking is another story. It could definitely use some improvements. Sometimes, a collision will be registered even though it doesn't look like one actually took place. This happens when the hitboxes of the graphics are too large, and therefore able to overlap when the graphics aren't touching. I found that I could make collisions occur between Joe and the icicles in this way.

Additionally, icicles can still kill Joe after their tips have passed his head. In fact, even if an icicle is halfway off the screen, Joe can still run into it and die. Maybe that's how you wanted the collisions to work, but it looks very strange and awkward to me.

It wouldn't hurt to add more variety into the gameplay and fix those collisions, but for your first game, this isn't bad. I hope you continue making bigger and better things in the future!

Seen Worse

Credit for making a game at all, let alone a functioning one.

Animation and motion is quite choppy. I would expand to add a reward system to encourage replays.

Not bad

It is a working game that appears to be glitch free, for your first time that is a very big accomplishment, I would keep the game's format but add to it and maybe make some enemies, an overall level design or maybe use the original as a bonus or something in new games that you make after this one.

not so good

You could take this idea and expand on it so much more.
Add sound, music, some drawn levels, and not really use this falling crap game idea, this is like a game you play at chucky cheese.
I may not be a great programmer myself but this isn't all that hard to make. Take some time and get a little better, maybe an artist to draw for you and you'll have a nice game maybe.

Not really addicting, but ok for a first game!

Keep it up!
