Bongo Boom Battlegrounds is a strategy game inspired by Patapon for the Sony PSP. Customise your army, choose a mission, then lead them into battle using a drum-based control scheme to give commands. Along the way you will encounter an 18 chapter storyline, a variety of enemy soldiers and several large bosses to defeat!

One of the reasons I created this was because it was really HARD looking for a Patapon-type game for the PC, so I made my own: the general style and control scheme may be borrowed from Patapon, but the story, artwork, and other game mechanics are entirely my own. I hope you will enjoy it, and have fun! Feedback is most welcome...

Instructions to play can be found in the game, everything is controlled by the arrow keys and spacebar.

Additional note: Thanks for all the comments, everyone! I hope you all had fun with the game. I've taken note of the more constructive suggestions and criticisms, and am currently working on the sequel... as for those who still feel it's too much of a patapon ripoff, then i sincerely apologize! it was never meant to be a 100% ripoff, i just really liked the idea of using drumbeats to control an army... so i made my own version of it. :)

This sir, was supposed to be a rip-off of Patapon. Did you bother to read the description, or is it that you are unable to read?

I myself didn't care for it, but not because it was a bad game. It looks good. I gave you a 10 to offset the idiot with a high and mighty complex.

in short : THIS IS A PC VERSION OF PATAPON! It's completely intentional.

Pretty Good Attemp

Though it isn't a great attempt, its still a good one. It needs some work obviously, but not too much. The beat just has an off feeling to it. Just some fine tuning of the sounds I guess would help.

But I see how your motive for making this game IS CLEARLY STATED IN THE DESCRIPTION and its a good reason to make this game.

Though I understand that people wont read this, because they can't even read the description... People, he made this game because there is nothing like this on the computer. Its not like its supposed to be a secret he got the idea for this game from Patapon, so please. Take the time to read something...

All in all nice game. Just fix some of the sounds and it should be a much better game. All this could just be a personal thing anyways, but I still like the game.

I liked it

I haven't played Patapon. I guess all of the reviewers below me never read the authors remarks. You say in your remarks that it is like Patapon and that you wanted one for the PC. Anyway . .

Storyline Spoiler for those of you who have yet to play the game!

I liked the storyline although it is a pretty common storyline. Many games have the "you get stronger and THEN the bad guy who was on your team decides to change sides.". Nonetheless I didn't see it coming.

The art was kindave fun. I wonder what this game would look like if it looked more realistic. Like having organized formations moving backwards and forwards on a battlefield (I'm a Medieval War Total War PC game fan can you tell?).

I liked the gameplay
I liked the artwork more or less
and I liked the storyline.

not bad at all

I have never played patapon or whatever so the whole concept was new to me.
There were a few possible bugs though. Sometimes when i was in the middle of a combo, the combo would end and the notes would fade away even when i hit the beat. I am pretty confident i was hitting the beat almost every time since the words would be a brighter color and my whole family has musical background and have good ears. Also during a fight some of my soldiers would just stand there even if I issued the attack command. Other than this I thought it was a very nice and interesting game.
