Hey guys,

This is our first 'real' flash movie. We've tried to work out all of the bugs, and we hope the movie works for everyone. The animation may not be exactly what us newgrounders are used to, but hey, we all have to start somewhere. If you see something wrong, or something to improve on, please let us know! We are just starting out and can use all the advice we can get. And if you know how to fix an error, please tell us how, that would be excellent. And just to clear things up, this was done without a tablet, just with a plain old laptop touch pad.

This is the movie that will hopefully start a series, and will hopefully grow both in art form and animation. For those who don't know...flash is kinda hard...

We have to thank Zerfetzer for letting us use his 'Ghostmas' music to go along with the video, and expressing interest in it even before it was released. We hope that we didn't disappoint you.

So here's the story of Starkid, whose goal in life is to collect the 'stars' that reside in the desolate world in which he lives in.

Great. Too short.

I think for a first animation this is absolutely terrific. The starkid himself is rather iconic and beautifully rendered. It ended much too soon for me.

Thank you. In the future, we will either extend this one or make a longer sequel.

great Idea!

This is a great idea you have here and for a first animation this is a swell project. Really for most people their first cartoon is a stick figure falling off of a cliff. The art was good and the music was fiting. All in all great job!

Phantom905 responds:

lol, thanks!

Great first 'real' flash movie

Just want to say that I think you've done a good job for a first movie. Perhaps a little short, but I bet it took very long time to create (may I ask how long time it took?). I guess as you progress you will be able to work faster and make even better movies. Good choice of music. I liked the graphics very well, and its amazing that you've drawn it using a laptop's touch pad.
Remember when creating a really good movie many things are important. The story, how you present the story, animation, quality of graphics. Even though you have a long way to go before creating the new "best of the week" I think you really got the potential to make the top lists one day. :)

Phantom905 responds:

Right now I'm on winter break, so for the past three days I have been working non-stop on it. I know its short, and watching it over I can see where it needs improvement, but hopefully things will get better. thanks for the encouragement!

Where was the story? I mean he see's a star is sad, a white thing falls and turns the mountain white then he gets the star....???? I mean c'mon, at least have a plot or something of a story. And putting in the comments "So here's the story of Starkid, whose goal in life is to collect the 'stars' that reside the desolate world in which he lives in." Why does he collect them? Why is his world desolate? In the future these are things you may want to consider fleshing out before you try and make a series out of this.

your first film huh?

this was very nice for your first. theres lots of room for improvement with this of course, but your showed good attention to detail. the reflections of light on the heroes face, from the star, was a nice touch. the music fit this perfectly and gave the animation an erie, uncertain feeling.

The graphics were quite nice and fit your animation pretty well.
ill look forward to seeing you improve and your future submissions as well.
if you need any help lemme know.

nice job and good luck!
