fun game
i really enjoyed it, very reminiscent of galaga.
FireAway, is a short Galaga like game which I mainly made for the reason of improving my OOP understanding and improving my AS3 skills. Also of course I made it as it was a school project but who cares.
You take on the role as an Astronaut and fly a space ship and you have to defend yourself from the incoming forces from the World Government. Please read the story in-game as if you care, don't want to post spoilers here otherways.
The game lacks some sound effects at the moment, the only sound is a bg sound.
I would have added more souds if I just had some sounds, as I don't really know where I should find them, if you have any suggestions feel free to contact me.
This version is still labeled as a Beta version as I feel it lacks some testing and there is still some features that should be balanced / added for a more complete game feel.
I wouldn't say the game is anything unique and new really, but I'm pleased with what I've accomplished.
The story and the coding is completly made by me, but I don't take credits for any graphics in the game. As none of the graphics were originally designed by me, I've only done sligh modifications to some.
Any feedback is very welcome and new ideas would be great to.
There would be and might be later on, more spawns of enemies and more enemy types and more scripted boss events. But due to lack of time and balancing there haven't been more added so far.
Also one of the reasons is the lack of projectiles, I don't have any good graphics to work with for this and I don't want everything to use the same projectile.

Updated to 1.3
- Increased power of SpeedDecreasers from x2 to x7.
This should simplify movement.

hmmm
the controals are teralble and i could'nt play this for more than 20 seconds
Some more description on what exactly is bad with them would be nice, but I suppose you have problems with the slow 'auto break'. Which now should be working better.
Not bad at all
I actually like this game, but I find trouble moving the spaceship, it glides too much after releasing the buttons.
I hope this get frontpaged, It deserves it.
Thanks, I will try improving the break mechanics and see if I can get it smoothly with a faster slow down. But I agree that its to slow on breaking now that you mention it.
