This is the story of the last of the dashkin. The people are all gone and in a world of innocent animals, the solitude, the sadness and bitterness have corrupted his view of life. What does the future hold for such a tragic creature? Will he wander the planet, forever alone until his death? Will he always be the wild King of Brackenwood?

It's a massive honour to be nominated for a 2nd Tank Award, thanks NG! Thank you for front page, all the great reviews and the incredible score for Daily Feature.
Thanks to Brackenwood fans and donors for all the support not only during the 4 weeks I spent making this, but also in the 2 years since I submitted Waterlollies.

Since then I've been working on the Brackenwood feature film outline with my good friend Ryan O'Loughlin. With no plans for a new web episode in the meantime it occurred to me that Brackenwood fans could be waiting years for the feature. I didn't want to abandon them altogether, so this new movie is my way of staying in touch with them and the NG audience.

This is the first Brackenwood short to break away from the "character introduction" style movies that had little or no character motivation and plot. This is a story, not only answering a lot of questions, but asking just as many new ones.

I used Flash CS3, the .fla is over 300MB (half of that is audio) and it took me 4 weeks.
Don't worry I won't be leaving it another 2 years. I plan on starting storyboards on the conclusion in jan-feb 2010.

Limitless Potential

Considering the time it took to produce, the aesthetic is bound to suffer. something half these *reviewers fail to realise, and though the storyline is rather generic if its delivered with the same underplayed genius of Hitchiker II or Waterlollies, then this will make a marvelous film.

Good Luck Adam!

Very good, but not as good

All of your other works seem to have a better storyline, I think that this one is quite cheesy though. And the lady speaking gives it a less than "original" look. But, as always your animation is stellar, and I will definitley be looking forward to the next in the series.

Very good, but I have a problem with Bitey.

First, let me say that this movie is absolutely beautiful. I do think you are the best flash artist and animator on the Internet, bar none. I did not think that you could imporve over "Waterlollies", but you did.

However, I feel that the description of Bitey in this movie does not fit with the characterization presented in the other videos. On the one hand, the combination of loneliness and spite do suit Bitey very well. That combination seems to provide a plausible motivation for the actions we have seen so far. On the other hand, you describe Bitey as the "wild king of Brackenwood," but he never seemed very dominant to me. Previously, Bitey always seemed to me to be a spiteful punk. Bitey tormented smaller creatures than himself, but he was always rebuked by another creature. In every episode except "the Yuyu," Bitey is somehow outsmarted or beaten physically by another creature. That hardly seems like the dominant creature you describe in this movie. I hope you do not ignore this criticism, because I think it is very important that the Bitey we see is the same as the Bitey you describe to us. Remember, show don't tell.

I hope that my criticism is useful to you. I still enjoyed this movie very much. If I think of anything else I'll post in your forums.

great animation as usual. though I preferred the previous animations without the narration - I think the story could've been told easily enough without it.
