This is the story of the last of the dashkin. The people are all gone and in a world of innocent animals, the solitude, the sadness and bitterness have corrupted his view of life. What does the future hold for such a tragic creature? Will he wander the planet, forever alone until his death? Will he always be the wild King of Brackenwood?

It's a massive honour to be nominated for a 2nd Tank Award, thanks NG! Thank you for front page, all the great reviews and the incredible score for Daily Feature.
Thanks to Brackenwood fans and donors for all the support not only during the 4 weeks I spent making this, but also in the 2 years since I submitted Waterlollies.

Since then I've been working on the Brackenwood feature film outline with my good friend Ryan O'Loughlin. With no plans for a new web episode in the meantime it occurred to me that Brackenwood fans could be waiting years for the feature. I didn't want to abandon them altogether, so this new movie is my way of staying in touch with them and the NG audience.

This is the first Brackenwood short to break away from the "character introduction" style movies that had little or no character motivation and plot. This is a story, not only answering a lot of questions, but asking just as many new ones.

I used Flash CS3, the .fla is over 300MB (half of that is audio) and it took me 4 weeks.
Don't worry I won't be leaving it another 2 years. I plan on starting storyboards on the conclusion in jan-feb 2010.

Thank you

I stumbled across the Brackenwood series six months ago I would say.
And ever since I first saw it, I have always kinda yearned to see more of them.
Thank you for making this possible for me, even if this isn't a common occurance.

The quality has improved a lot since the first one, and has only continued to improve. some areas of your animations are so incredibly lifelike and fluid, that I can't name a single flash I've ever seen like them...

This is because there simply isn't one. You have created something original, something unique.

Yours are the sort which one can watch a limitless amount of times, without ever getting bored, without ever ceasing to admire the artwork, the creativity required to create such a variety of wild adventures, and the animation quality that you have become so admired for.

I cannot help but become completely immersed in these flashes when I watch them. The emotions that you imbue upon your characters, and the story which you place upon it all... it's really something else, and something that regrettably, I cannot put the proper words to at 12:00 am. I apoligize.

May your flashes live forever. A day when this sort of thing ceases to exist, is a sad day indeed. 10/10, 5/5.

Actual criticism;

I know this will never be seen, but I thought this was sloppier than your other shorts in terms of line quality. Your effects animation is always off the hook but your character's lines seemed fatter in this one. Great lighting, great three dimensional landscape speedthru's, killer design overall, but boring, and had less of a plot than your other ones (don't smite me). I felt like I was watching your other stuff smooshed together, and the circular narrative was less entertaining than your pantomime driven visual storytelling.
THAT SAID: I love your work in general and you make incredible stuff. I think this one was just rougher than the others.
