So this is my second real production. I'm trying to figure out different movements and stuff. Start out simple and then learn the rest. This started out as me trying to get the blue stick to walk across a blank frame just because I'm trying to test the waters, and it turned out I just had a lot of fun with it. I have a bunch of new models and ideas for Stickom because of this, and I'm not not afraid of movement. Truth be told, I'm trying to find out how to do a stick-firefight. So enjoy...

a work in progress

If you want some tips:
I tried doing stickmen, and I drew them with the brush tool, and when they moved I re-drew them in every frame. This makes the movement look much smoother and less jerky. Im not an artist, so they don't look as good as the could have, but they look better than your line tool drawn stickmen.

DanWil responds:

Hey, thanks for the tip. I've actually already made some models and tested them like you suggest and although they move a bit more cartoony, it is much smoother. In the future I will be doing that, but for now I'm only trying to learn things so for the next couple submissions I'm just going to be putting together what I know. I know this will get me low scores and negative feedback, but trial by fire is just how I work best.

Also, since its Holiday season, I'm feeling a bit rushed, and don't have a lot of time on my hands, otherwise if I did... I wouldn't have a problem putting less time in a day, for the sake of expansion and quality. So after the new year, I'll probably start making some better things.

Once more, thanks.

didnt like this

sorry didnt like this flash mainly because it was poorly drawn stick figures, if your gonna do stick stuff at least do it well.

DanWil responds:

Look. It was my first time doing anything, and I'm trying to learn from doing.

Cool idea.

Animation is a little choppy, kinda short. But other than that, cool idea for a flash, and fairly well animated.

DanWil responds:

Thank you very much for the review. I know it was kind of choppy. I had originally done a bit of it with a smoother transition, using symbols and what not, but I went for individually animating absolutely everything which is why it was short. I spent an hour making the bartender get a beer. I think if I decide to continue with anything like this in the future I will rush it less. Spend a couple hours on it a day, and expand it. Once more, thanks!

I like it

I think if this does well enough, you could do a series of different places the guy is trying to exit from. Wierd, but good.

DanWil responds:

Thank you very much for the response. If it does do well enough, I was thinking about that. First thing I was going to do was slap a halo on him. But I'd only do it to try and improve my animation, and see if I could try to do something new.

Very Choppy and Poor

Seems rushed to be honest. The music was seemingly just slapped on for no reason. Needs ALOT of work.

DanWil responds:

Good call. I started it about 9 hours before I finished it. It does need a lot of work... I do need a lot of work, and that was kind of the point. Also the thing about the music, your completely right. There was no reason, other than my adoration for Dan Black. If that doesn't work for you, I don't really care.
