Death's Dayjob

Well it's been a while since I last uploaded anything, so here's a little something I whipped in a few weeks.....over the length of a few months.

Grim Reapo has been Death for an eternity. Killing off the living and ferrying their souls to the Death Inc. Offices for processing. But one day Grim walks into his office to find a large skeleton sitting as his own desk. His confusion is met with a "Fired" slip, as the boss of Death Inc. sacks his long time death dealer.

Now jobless with nowhere else to go, Grim turns to the physical world, to get a new career and start anew. He's about to find out that getting a job in the world of the living is not as easy as he thought.

*NOTE: Yes, I'm aware there's a document sizing issue. The original size was too big for Newgrounds, so I did a last minute readjust. It's not perfect but it'll suffice till I can fix it properly later.*

that's about the best thing i can say about this flash. the animation, though not very good, is quite unique. the concept, though not very original, was fairly well executed. and of course, the cheerful background music really cements this as a pretty dark comedy. minus some points because overall, it just wasnt that funny. i cant think of how you could do the jokes any better though, so i really shouldnt have any right to criticize your flash, but that's kinda what we do. but still, nice job.

eat-at-joes-guy responds:

While my examiners will disagree I appreciate the criticism all the same Thank you.

Once I saw the title I thought it would be another crapy movie, but it turns out I liked it alot! Great graphics, no stupid dialogue, and no cussing (my favorite part!)

Finally, something worth watching!

eat-at-joes-guy responds:

Well thank you. Hopefully I can keep churning out quality such as this. Seems like a rare jem.

I guess I never thought that a literal dead baby comedy would ever come off as cute, but this was nice. I guess the delivery of jokes was not the best, but the punchline was well worth it. This flash's strongest point is how good the animation is. I really like how the characters and the backgrounds are drawn. It is among the most unique styles that I have ever seen in a cartoon, and I wish I knew how you did the animation on this. This is my 21st birthday and it was great to see this on this very special day.

eat-at-joes-guy responds:

Glad you thought so highly of it, and happy 21st.

This is the common problem that we all know Death to be associated with, yet somehow it was still very entertaining.

I think the thing that sold me was the straight-up music and sound effects. No pointless dialogue or anything - everything displayed through their faces. I also liked the animation style. Nothing flashy, nothing blocky, and nothing that looked like a dead cow could have drawn.

Excellent work! I look forward to your future submissions.

eat-at-joes-guy responds:

Lol thanks for the review. And I'm sure one of those dead cows Grim killed could draw quite well. ;P

Again thank you, I'll be sure to keep at this style of animating and storytelling with the popularity of this flash movie. ^_^

over all it was kind of lacking... the funniest part was the baby on mall santas lap. I lol'd

eat-at-joes-guy responds:

Thanks for the review, I'm sorry it wasn't up to scratch for you.
