I started this game months ago after I made my first pixelated game. It was finished in about a week but I never found the time to submit it. Now you can play it in all it's 8bit glory on Newgrounds.

I guess I'll give you a little background to the game as well. When the art portal first opened up I saw an art piece that blew my mind. It was this really beautiful landscape that was pixelated. Anyway, I drew a picture that sort of resembled it, and I tried to draw a man sitting under the tree in my picture. Well, the head turned out all right, but I couldn't do the body, so I made it a baby. One thing led to another and this is what came out of it all. Cool, right?

W: Jump
A and D: move left or right
Q: Toggles quality
R: Restarts the game

Also, yes I know there is a glitch in the game, but I hope you will never encounter it. It's only a tiny glitch though.

Anyway, leave a review and I hope you enjoy it! :D

Not sure why it's so praised...

The game is acceptable, but nothing special.
The artwork is pretty awesome, the music is as well, but the actual game itself is just so-so.
Having the rats turn to move towards you rather than patrolling (moving a set path) is EXTREMELY ANNOYING, and makes jumping over them far too hard.
The background art should change with each scene rather than just being the one image of mountains, though it is a good drawing of 8-bit mountains (the castle background is good too).
You might want to try erasing the top left corner pixel of the baby's head, or some of the other corners, to make it look more rounded rather than square.
I really like the ridiculous idea, the art, and the music but the actual gameplay just isn't there.
Maybe with some updates this can become better!

Graphics and sound, but no playability

Game looks and sounds great, but the rats change direction too suddenly and have too wide a "kill" area, making it nearly impossible to reliably jump them. Poor response on jump key meant repeatedly running off cliffs. Could have been cool, but too hard to play and nothing special to set it apart from other platformers.

Very very poor.
The jump response is slow so i died twice by jumping.
I found it very boring

As great as the art and everything else is, the game is near unplayable. The baby didn't respond to the "w" button half the time, and the rats are more annoying than anything else. I think if you'd've made it one continuous scene instead of changing scenes every time you left the screen, some foresight would be available.

I like it, but I hate it at the same time.
