The Future Wasn't There

A movie about longing, dreams, loss, and time travel. AWESOME.

So I made this movie a few years ago. It was finished just before I started work on AwesomeRaptor. It remains the longest flash movie I've ever made. There is no dialogue, and it originally didn't even have music. And that's the main reason I never uploaded it.

But it has music now! Thanks to Chris Zito's (amazing NG voice actor and pretty cool artist too) massive music library, I was able to tune this thing up with some... tunes.

I really hope you guys like it, but if not... that's cool. Let me know what you think!

EDIT: Thanks for daily third and front page! I love you Newgrounds, and your leader Tom Fulp. <3

Also, to all you guys claiming the movie has no ending... it does. Know that part where the movie stops and the replay button appears? That's the end. The story has an intentionally ambiguous conclusion that is meant to inspire personal interpretation and conversation. Any more traditional ending I could've included would've robbed the viewer of the opportunity to really think about the movie's message. Thanks for watching!

I sympathize with the guy, but...

I was really ready to give this a 9 or 10, but that ending killed it for me. A bit of a cliffhanger, no?

I'd love to see you explore this story again, hopefully with a better ending next time.

Sorry! Thanks for watching.

I liked it!

Needs a little work. The music seemed... meh, but it flowed well. Beautiful art!

spanio responds:

The music was an afterthought, so I can't argue with that. Thanks for watching!

Great Job

Great Job on this, seriously. If I were him i'd have pulled a Philip J. Fry and rocked it up in the future though, going back in time would cause Paradoxes, If he talked to the chick and got her back, she would have broken up with his past self, causing him not to have ever gotten to where he was in the future with her, so in essence he wouldn't have gone back in time in the first place.

spanio responds:

Maybe that's what happened! It's entirely possible that his time travels are the reason he doesn't reappear right away. Thanks for watching!

listen here

what I beliave spanio was doing was showing you that he knew what he had to do, so you know that and then it has the perfect ending where he hits past like you just realized before and he disappears either way he learned from his mistakes and risked everything to make things right.

spanio responds:

You're pretty much right on top of what I was going for. Thanks for watching!

does he get her back, or end up in the dark ages???? this need an ending

spanio responds:

The "ending" allows you to consider this question. But it should also create in you a sense of unease... a feeling that should resonate with your own life to make you consider how you balance those you love with that which you wish to do. Thanks for watching!
