Chain Reaction Tutorial

Author Comments

Start the first explosion with a click anywhere on the gamescreen and start a chain reaction. The number in the upper part shows how much goobies exploded vs. how much you need to go to the next level. Levels restart automatically if this is not passed. No need to rate, it's just a test... Thanks for playing though.

A basic chain reaction game in AS3 with url-scanning to implement different APIs.

Interesting. I played a game very similar to this called Atomz. The main difference here is that there are objects you aren't supposed to hit, there are fewer objects, and projectiles don't stop when they hit an item. The graphics are basic and could use work but overall I found this to be more strategic than the other game. Ultimately the lack of graphics, sound, and overall presentation bring it down. I would like to know how far into the game I am, and if there are any bonuses I can get or any sort of reward other than another level.

A good game

I kept thinking that this was going to be an actual tutorial about how to make a game like this in Flash Player. I mean, that was the title, but this was interesting to play at least. It has been awhile since I have played a game like this, so it is good to be back. You were definitley right on how Level 7 was the hardest one (or at least the hardest so far). My biggest complaint is that the graphics are a little simplistic. It is still a creative game and gives you a lot of freedom to make strategy and combos.

Wow, thank you. I thought this game was already buried somewhere deep under newgrounds' floor tiles. You may enjoy FLU!!2, same concept, better graphics.
Anyway, thanks for your review and the tutorial is on my blog.

Nice test.

Sidenote: not a tutorial.

kegogrog responds:

Yeah, it is the product of one. Wanted to call it 'The Chain Reaction Tutorial Game', but the Newsground submission form ended at the 'G' of 'Game'. Check out the tutorial (source and explanation) at blog.natan.info
