Author Comments

First off the animation is huge, it's 12 megs big, so it'll take awhile to load. If you don't have the patients for that, then um... go watch something else. Something less insultingly huge. Perhaps a video involving cats, or excessive violence.

Well, here it is. The Legend of Link, Episode II: Oh Yes And Spiders.

You can find the opening theme music used in the animation at the m website, and the rest of the music over at http://ghostfacekilobyte.

It only took me forever to make it, and it required the help of dozens upon dozens of other talented people.

Also the first quarter or so of it is up on youtube. tch?v=WLtkxAPgkIA but it ends telling people to go to newgrounds to see the rest.

The Legend Of Link is a pixel art animation, made almost entirely with frame by frame animating.

Enjoy please.

Also, if you bother watching the whole thing (it is very long) Do watch all the credits, as many people other than me helped with this, most of them without newgrounds accounts and their effort disserves a moment of your time.

Updatey thing ---

Thanks to people who watched it. Thanks for front page. Though it's probably down now as clock day I'm sure has presented billions of frontpage worthy entries.

Especially thanks to everyone who gave all those really... really complimentary reviews. They creep me out but are very nice.

I do not thank those of you that hated the animation, but I do respect you. Especially those that reviewed it and said what they disliked. You're wrong of course, but I respect you.

--end updatey thing.

--Another updatey thing

I'm... back on the front page. That was unexpected.

Not that I mind. Whoever did that I thank them with all my little heart. It was kind of you.

--end updatey thing.

I love to see well-made sprite animations. The fact that this gave off such a strong, professional vibe is amazing. I never expected to find such an outstanding sprite flash on the Internet. The humor was amusing and I was constantly entertained with the changing scenery and different characters. The voice acting was great, although some of the voices were a bit soft for my laptop's built-in speakers. If I was a decent sprite artist, I would absolutely love to contribute; however, I do not possess any talent in that field.

If you would like an extra head to think of some ideas for a future animation (if you are considering producing one), I would love to help.

Sorry about the sound levels. I tried. I failed. The world wheeps.

"what about spiders?" "oh god yes, and spiders!"

first, lets talk about the movie;
it was great! full of witty lines ("is zelda going to be mad with us" "yes, yes she will") great characters (i love sprite! (insert creepy (and somewhat tasteless) joke about slavery here)) great voice acting (my favorite is link. you gotta love a deadpan snarker. best. link. ever.) and funny extras (and a little bad ass. that was a cool gannon)
now, because i am board i will make comments on some of the stuff in the Q&A

to the people who say "pixel art sucks"
(warning, incoming rant) hooo, boy, you people are annoying. i really just hate people who rag on something good, just because it doesn't have terrific graphics . it's you people who are ruining not only things like flash art, but the gaming industry, by constantly frowning upon anything that doesn't look new you people are what causes many flashes and games to always be so pretty on the surface, but shallow and puerile underneath. so to you i say "go away"

about donating
do it, all the cool kids are!

is the author a boy or girl?
lessee here; name, emptyGODDESS, and the newgrounds profile say female... while this could be a lie, i am going to go with... dudette, girl, woman, ect. ect. ect.

the legend of zelda cartoon.
it wasn't bad, it just wasn't... good. i think this is far better. and to those of you wah say that the old cartoon outright sucked, i say this; could of been worse; four words: zelda on the CD-i

zelda 2.
once again, not bad, just different. a fun game... i'm stuck on the last boss.

and as for links voice actor:
well, tell him thanks for us then!

once again, thank you and all those who helped you on this amazing flash. huzzah!

People find this review helpful!
Emptygoddess responds:

Thank you very much? If only more people were so complimentary when they were board the internet would be a much more pleasant place.

All the pixel editing in this was just great. I can see from toying with flash a shitload myself that this was very fucking time consuming. I saw the entire thing and I went through all of the credits. This movie is good and you should feel good. :D

Only advice I must say is that assuming most people on newgrounds cannot sit still for an animation that's over 5 minutes (10min max probably) You should work on more but shorter animations. The quality of each animation is outstanding of course and I hope it's always done that well. But this felt almost like an actual TV show or something. It was just soo long xD

Not saying it's a bad thing, I actually enjoyed this a lot. But the majority would probably like a quick little video to where they are able to go back to, to view and such.

I'm not sure if you reply but I have a quick question about this. Was each sprite custom bitmaps and imported to the library and animated frame by frame. Or, did you get a pixel tool in flash and frame by frame edit without having to create multiple custom bitmaps in another image editing program.

Your friends that helped you did a great job with the assistance as well :P

Emptygoddess responds:

The one that involves custom bitmap that was imported to the library and animated frame by frame.

You know, the stupid way.
