Dante's Inferno w/ Mario

Mario plays as Dante and Toad plays as Virgil in this fun-filled tour of the monster-filled circles of Hell!

This time, my use of Mario characters isn't entirely my fault.

BlueEyedSweeTie needed a school project done about Dante's Inferno, so she gave me part of a script to work with for me to make a Mario Flash movie for her, since she thought I would use sprites. She also thought the movie wouldn't have sound. Instead, I exceeded her expectations by voicing nearly the entire movie myself, making some short tunes in Finale Notepad, and drawing everything with the mouse. The result of a quick school project is the movie page you see now. The movie itself is about 3 and a half minutes, and I don't remember how long the credits are.

Anyway, enjoy!

[EDIT 03-14-09]: Shoot, I think I might could have gotten a Daily Feature if I had submitted this just thirty minutes earlier than I had. Ah well. Fourth's not bad. =P
[EDIT 03-18-09]: I signed on today and noticed my movie had made it to the frontpage, which I honestly hadn't expected. Many thanks to who put it there!
[EDIT 03-20-09]: By the way, there's not going to be a sequel.

Pretty good

I remember watching "One More Minute" about a year ago and this is definitely a step up as far as animation goes. Don't get me wrong, I really liked that cartoon, but this one shows great improvement in using some great frame by frame techniques and staying close to tweening as well, which is never a bad thing (unless its just a tween that serves no purpose). Anyways, the characters were well drawn out and I love that fact that you didn't decide to use sprites, so extra points for that
As for the story, It was interesting. I may be the only one, but i didn't really understand what was going on. What I grasped was that toad was just showing mario different levels of hell with memorable characters from the game in there. Some people might understand it so I wont take points for that (I understand this is a school project)
I'm impressed that you went out of your way to voice act it. I wouldn't have worked any other way. I didn't particularly like the voice acting (not saying youre bad, but i just didn't work for me). You should probably try to get free voice actors online. They could have done a better job and I know plenty always looking for work.
Overall, good work and I hope to see more later this year

JonBro responds:

I know what you mean with the voices. I personally think I can voice act fairly well... unless it comes to Toad's voice. Just trying to get that high-pitch raspy sound is really hard and hurts my throat... so it isn't even entirely consistent throughout the movie.

Thanks for the review!

Haha. Great.

That was pretty awesome. It was really well done, and all the Nintendo references were great. SatanBowser looked sweet.

I laughed out loud when I saw Yoshi with the elevator music speaker.

Very cool.

Decent animation... the only thing I recemend is that is to make it less scratchy. Nice Job.

JonBro responds:

Yeah. It's a bit sloppy in general. I should have tried making a really fancy slick movie with more professional-sounding voice acting... but if I did that, I wouldn't have finished by the deadline, heh.

Kicked so much arse!

I loved it, animation was great so were the voices and the story was just very different! Make more!
