I really want to 10 this, but:
The seven is for the fantastic engine improvements (dual shotguns? Brought me back to Marathon). Otherwise, though, I was vey disappointed. First off, skeleton glitch. What the hell is wrong with the character creator memory? Second: Gameplay was much, much more repetitive than I'd hoped for, given the precedent you've set with the rest of the series, even compared to the other "Arena" games. Third, the scoreboards. You have separate scoreboards for every map, you can't navigate them, and why would I play all of the open room maps just to see the different texture sets?
In general, I was happy to see more female skins (if only I could use them-goddamn glitchola), and the engine and arsenal were fantastic. But any replay value this should have is pretty much lost on me for now.
fun game i enjoyed it as a five ten minute thing game but i eventully got a bit bored
fun, but lacking in depth.
i wanna start of with the good, rather than the bad, because quite frankly this is a good game, but its not without its issues.
to start things off, the visual style is charming and fun, the charecter design cute and theres a nice variety in charecter customization. you can be Dante, a mafia goon, a girl, or a Skeleton just to name afew.
second, the gameplay is fun. theres a nice variety of weapons and many of them work diffirent ways, making killing people original and unique with every diffirent weapon.
but theres also a major flaw: theres no depth to this game.
sure doing diffirent thing offers medals, and it is a fun game but the thing is you're doing the same thing over and over.
now don't get me wrong, it doesn't get repetitive for a good long while with the variety in weapons such as lazer guns, grenade launchers, tommy guns, the works.
but theres nothing that draws you into it, theres no story mode so the game has no plot, and theres no other modes than the normal one. do theres not much chance to anything diffirent, theres no variety in the gameplay.
still, this is a very fun game and worth checking out if you wnat to rank up your medals.
No zombies? seriously?
I'm marking it down for lack of survival modes, specificly for lack of zombies. But it's still an awesome game.
I've seen questions about artifact 19, I had the same questions till suddenly I had it at the start of every level. I dont know why. I had all the achievements except 'tried them all' at the time. I think I had played in every arena (used customized game to try them all). If it's not that, maybe it's total play time or kills or something, I dont know and good luck getting it.
As far as what it is, it's a gun that 1) hits everyone on the screen at once and 2) regenerates ammo. That sounds awesome, but really not so much. 1) it's not very strong, you can hold it down to electrocute people longer to kill them, but it uses up quite a bit of it's ammo. 2) the ammo regeneration is SLOW. Getting the Divine power achievement takes a long time because it can take 10 ammo to kill a guy and only regenerates one 'shot' per second or so. Also it's a gun... I kinda expected something that works like it does, but more of an orb or rod instead of a gun. Makes no sense that you dont have to aim it, then what's the point of it's design?
That being said, I suspect artifact 19 is the reason for some of the high high scores listed. You know those areas where you can put your back to the wall, and enemies will be stuck in the alcove behind you, unable to reach you... yeah, it's a nice place to regenerate some health sometimes. But with A19 you can attack them through the wall, and just wait for more to come. Granted this is a slow slow way to kill everyone, and anyone who scored 70k points using that method has a lot of patience.
So yeah. Good game, bring back the zombie survival.
Fun, for a while
Nice game, but I found myself bored after an hour's worth of gameplay.
