This was for a uni project in which we had to design a new menu system for the PSP, along with a PSP skin and carrying case.

I didn't get very far with make sub-menus or anything, but the basic idea is there. To be honest I was much more focused on creating characters than designing a menu.

To operate it press the left and right shoulder buttons to rotate the wheel, then click on the wedge displayed at the bottom to view it. Click again to revert back to the wheel (or alternatively press the shoulder buttons to view the next wedge straight away). The only menu with any type of sub-menu is Photos, in which the top 3 buttons are clickable. Other than that, the menu has no function (other than to look pretty ;P ). This was made in the early days of my learning Flash.. it could be improved a lot, but since the project is long over I don't see the point.

Here are links to my skin and carrying case designs (they're much cooler!):

I based them off of the same characters I used in the menu. (Remove any spaces to make the link work)

i like it

I think it is good, however if you want an affect like that you willl need to make a hacked theme and even then I think the games animation could be dodgey. However good idea, it was very creative. I only gave this a 9 and a 5 because it was so conceptual, though it could be reality with learning how to make hacked psp themes (not advised). I would have liked the PSP buttons to work though, but except that extreemly good idea. Maybe if youa re to take this idea up for games and movies and stuff you can always contact me for techno jus email or pm me. Seen as I have over 3,500 words left ill pitch this. The next thing you make should be like a complete PSP thing. Maybe include a few games some would include stuff like rhythm games like guitar lord PSP and stuff do like tht and have racing games. But then have like flash movies of your own. Then a music section where you have diffrent genres. Connection will be hard but if you could find a script for it well done. and maybe settings include stuff like game options where you can change if the player wants to use arrow keys or wasd keys. Also a unique thing is a brightness option if u can do it. Just have a huge project where you try it. I would rate that at an awsome score but take your time if you do that, remember pm me if you want techno and electro music.

Despite the score, it's actually pretty neat. The little characters are cute, and the animation is kind of neat. Although I like the current menu, this would definitely be a neat gizmo. The only problem is as the PSP keeps updating, they might add more things, and if they used this design, the circle could eventually end up being enormous. Still, good effort, cool animation.

Cheeseycom responds:

Yeah good point, I don't think I was really being practical.. this was more of a creative exercise than anything else.
Thanks for the review =]

I thought...

it had a nice feel to it. Your animation was pretty standard, but it fit with the piece. I think that the idea could be turned into something really cool though for an actual PSP. Keep working on this it could be something pretty good.
