jesus christ, don't tell me my game doesn't work just because you can't figure out the controls...

Hopefully this version is FIXED. I will test it again once it's uploaded. I tested it many many times and fixed 90% of the bugs. There is 1 known bug and one "supposed" bug which are:

-If the ball is going straight and you hit it down on the first turn then when the enemy hits it it will stop.
-Supposedly the ball will go through the paddle at certain time (although I have never seen this)

-Playable!!! (when I uploaded it there was a line of code that made it fullscreen rendering it unplayable)
-More Speed
-Less repetitive (Gave enemy slight speed advantage + the ball starts at a random y speed)
-Ball no longer gets stuck in wall (I think)

Future updates:
-Better AI
-Better control over ball

Also a note: One of my reviewers commented that in pong the ball is moved depending on where you hit the ball. I have tried this and I found it to be very glitchy so I settled with this.

Another note: You have to be moving for the ball to change directions

You could do better.

If this game was created with the technology of the 80's it would still barely be an achievement. Today it seems the result of a bored afternoon. Minimal levels of collision detection/physics programming and a touch of AI set to some techno that doesn't really fit with the slow pacing of the game and a basic recreation of three decade old graphics that are barely better than the original pong itself. Even so, the game has numerous glitches. Space bar's effect is implemented somewhat haphazardly and needs restrictions placed on it. I've more than once had the ball get stuck to the "ceiling". Its not bad for an early attempt, and could be polished into a decently enjoyable game with a few additions and some slight tweaks.
The only reason pong every attained the fame it did back in the day was its ability to allow two people to actually compete against each other. Even three decades ago, this game play probably wouldn't pass for a single player game on its own, as most versions of the original pong (there were many) actually allowed multiplayer.
It needs more. With this basis (and a few fixes) you have the core product needed to make more. You just need to expand.

Pong is pong

Another guy before me said it well: "nothing new or good about it, just pong." It's also a bug-ridden version of pong, which makes it even worse.

And while we're at it, the fast-paced techno music doesn't mix with the slow, tedious nature of the game.

Zyzzogeton responds:

1)If you want to play "super deluxe battle explosion pong" then don't click on a game that says "retro pong"

2)I don't comprehend how a bug ridden version should make it worse

3)turn off your volume if you don't like it.

Better, but still very glitchy.

The 'supposed' bug really WAS a bug, buddy. I checked out the reviews for the first version of this, and it seemed that the frozen paddle/ghosting ball happened to just about everyone. I'm not sure how you could NOT see it.

I played through a few times, and the first two times I played, I couldn't get the game to start. When I clicked on the pop-up screen and hit BACKSPACE, it completely froze up and sent my browser back one page. Once I finally got it to work, it was all right, but not stunning. This IS Pong we're talking about. Also, the game would be more fun if the winning score were higher than three. The game is too short.

It is definitely better than your first try, and you fixed the AI, too. I won't really rate this any higher than I am, though. There are still quite a few bugs you need to fix. I'll play it when you update it.

Zyzzogeton responds:

Sorry, but if I could find the glitch I would fix it, but I can't. Also, you need to focus on the game (aka click on it) before it will recognize keystrokes, because backspace also just HAPPENS to be the back button on an internet browser

Zyzzogeton responds:

Really? I wouldn't think so... not to consider I named it "RETRO PONG"

Finally figured it out !

you just press the space button again so you can actually move the paddle
