Neon Invaders [fixed]

I tried uploading yesterday but the controls didn't work ... I *think* I fixed the problem. This is a small, quick game I put together to get some more game building experience and to try my hand at dynamic filters.

I could really use an artist/animator to help me build more visually appealing games! Please PM me if you're interested in teaming up for some future games... Thanks!

OK...

Simple, killed some time. But it's kinda boring. 5/5 9/10

Not very different.

This is mostly just a point a shoot game, infinite respawn, doesn't take much effort. Still looks like you put some good time into it, noticibly harder to aim for the targets. Not bad at all, pretty fun, got boring easily though after level 11.

I really like it!

I really do like this take on Invaders. This time around it was playable. Two things though. First, even though I liked the fact that after a game over you get to keep your upgrade points, I don't think it was intentional of you. Which takes me to my second point. What happens when you fill your upgrades? I couldn't go to the next level when that happened. But I sure did love the neon glow!!!

nmalhot responds:

Weird. It's definitely not intentional that you keep upgrades between games!

wtf?

thought u said it was fixed... i cant even fire it just temperaraly pauses the game

meh.

The controls felt clunky, not responsive at all. The upgrades seemed useless to me, i couldn't tell the difference from a before and after, and having the shield and armor not return after every level (or so) is a pain.
Recommendation: Try to make the controls smoother, return armor and shield after every level or three, and make the upgrades feel like they actually do something.

nmalhot responds:

The upgrades definitely do make a difference but I see your point that there's no good indication to you that they have. I'll make sure my next adaptation takes that into account. Also, yeah restoring shields/armor after each level is something I considered as well and will put into a next version. Thanks for the feedback.
