Erhmm...I don't really know what to say here since I'm a complete noob and this is my first submission. I'm not open to any criticism so back off (nah i'm j/k but I would appreciate constructive criticism). If you hate it then just say it xD or if you love it then cool. It took me months to finish this whole flash project all by myself. I started with zero knowledge of Flash but I didn't give up so here I am with a finally complete but with some bugs version. It's still playable and can be completed. I'm currently working on the scripting for the next part so if this first one goes well then I'll work on getting the second one done soon. I made this point-and-click adventure because after playing a lot of other point-and-click game it's become quite frustrating that I have to keep referring to the guides from others because the author failed to create a story or give sufficient hints to allow the player to figure out the next steps in beating it and I hated the fact I had to click like crazy all over the screen just to find some stupid hidden spot/item. My goal here in creating this type of interactive game was to practice using different features of flash so throughout you may notice somethings not consistent because I'm using different things to see the results and learn from it. Give this game a try. And lastly, no one should need a walk-through guide to beat this game unless you're just plain retarded or lazy then it's ok.

HOW TO PLAY:

Point-and-Click it's pretty self-explanatory...only other things I'm going to point out is that you'll have to mix/combine certain items together which isn't too difficult. Just click and drag the items over each other and it should magically combine within an instant. If you do get stuck leave a comment and I'll give you a hint on how to get to the next part.

*EDIT*
Wow over 10k views for my first flash ever completed (if it reaches 25k views I'll guarantee a release on the next chapter). Remember this is amateur work xD not professional and I'm just doing this for a fun and learning experience. I'm working on improving my one-point perspective drawings so that it'll look more realistic or at least cleaner. I was suppose to voice the introduction but I took it out and won't add it in until later because I know reading that silent scrolling text is boring and I give you props if you sat through it and read it (I skip it every time). If I finish my second Chapter I PROMISE it'll be 10x better/funner than what this first short one had to offer.

If anyone is interested in working with me in this Project just send me an e-mail or message. I'm currently a one-man team. No requirements except don't be a jerk and be nice/respectful.

the key, the box and the paper with the backwards writing were not used for anything? why include them? i did like i though wish there was more.

Nice.

Pretty Good, but like others have said, needs better graphics.
Also, why does the star and that box combine to make a key?

Pretty good game but...

I won't repeat what was said (or written) before even if I do agree. As a French guy, there is a specific point I'd like you to know. At the beginning of the game, the story is displayed on the screen. If the text is not too long, I have time enough to read and understand it but, from the middle till the end, the texts are longer and go too fast. So, I missed a part of it. Maybe it would be better if the player would have to click each screen of the story when he is OK with it. Lots of people who are not english native speakers play this kind of games (I often play Japaneese or American games). Thanks to make it easier for us in next game.
Congratulations for this first try.

Unequivocal responds:

oh ok thank you so much for pointing that out. I'll definitely keep foreigners in mind that play too. Maybe I can set the game up to where it's in French, German, Japanese, or English? That would be fun and very useful but I would need translators for that. In the next version I'll have the prologue read aloud so you don't have to read it and make it a bit slower since not everyone can read at a fast speed. Again thank you for the very helpful review tonyts.

Basic is ok, but...

Graphics is not a problem for me, as it is not the main point of escape style games. But there are lots of very disturbing bugs in the game.

Navigation: incoherent navigation lots of disturbing view changes. Eg. temple - in front of the altar and behind the altar. At home where you find the note. Next time try to think over it.

Item usage: I had a bug when opening Anna's locker. I clicked two times on the key to see the note of the item and than click on Anna's locker. The key disappeared but the text "Anna's locker key" is stucked on the display and the items from the locker doesn't appear in my inventory.

Layers: eg in the office of the priest with safe behind the painting. The notes ,the sign on the desk, and the painting is not transparent. It was very hard to click into the proper typeinfield of the code panel. + why did you draw a numeric pad for the panel if it is only able to type in words.

Basically it is ok for me. It is hard enough for a first point 'n click submission, but try to build in more complex puzzles in the future. More inventory items to combine.
Cheers

Unequivocal responds:

Thanks for pointing those out I'll definitely look into it and try to fix it (I only had myself to test it before releasing so I tried to catch as many bugs as I could but apparently I didn't get them all). I will also make sure the view changes are a lot more logically connected.

ah ok I'll go back and make sure they will be transparent and OMG I feel like such an idiot about the code panel xD I'll fix that too! Thank you so much for your informative review. I'll definitely try to fix all the bugs mentioned and re-release a more better version in the future.

okay

Crude graphics, standard "escape from the room" style gameplay. Very short and rather linear. You might want to consider a way to exit the game besides stopping the program.

Unequivocal responds:

hehe thanks for being honest ^^ and yeah I have to agree with you on that the graphics are crude. I would rate it crude too. (I need a good artist xD) True the base concept of the game is the standard "escape from the room" style gameplay as my flash was built around a tutorial for the "escape from the room" gameplay style so I apologize for making it so short and yes it was very linear in progressing through the story. About exiting the game that's not the purpose of Dab Story but I see what you're trying to say which is something I'll note down in my next production. Thank you very much for your time ^^
