9/19/2013: Announcing “THE BALLADS OF REEMUS 2” KICKSTARTER campaign! I'm going to flesh out (get it?!) the Death Slug storyline with new puzzles, voice acting, and shiny graphics for Reemus's beerbelly. I've already posted a prototype if you want to check it out!

I read all your feedback and tried to improve upon all the criticisms. It ended up being twice the workload, which is why I'm about two months late with releasing it. Hopefully you enjoy the extra effort!

Expect more animation, bigger puzzles and the ability to finally control Reemus and Liam.

There are also 3 possible end ranking combinations.

- Scene 3 - after de-rooting the lung plant you must click on another part of the tree instead of the hole. This is not a glitch! Find another part of the tree root to click on.

-Final Scene - After you throw the pineapple into the cave opening and hide, the Gygax appears to freeze. This is not a bug, you must find something else to click on.

What am i supposed to say after Daedo-The-Mofo's review? Great game man. Great animation AND great gameplay? you dont get that very often.



Another fantastic entry!

Well it's felt like an absolute eternity, but the newest entry in the Reemus series is finally here and manages to live up the the groundwork laid by its predecessors! It's the same quirky world, with offbeat humour and outlandish characters and scenarios, but now with even deeper gameplay.

The game looks gorgeous as always, with deep detailed backgrounds and bright, vibrant colours really bringing this outlandish world to life. Whether it's a simple campsite outside a barn to a field of donuts (!!) each scene is just set up perfectly. The music that accompanies each scene is good too, and perfectly camptures the mood and sets the tone for the game.

The addition of being able to switch between Reemus and Liam is an inspired one, as it adds that extra layer to the puzzles where one character may interact with an object in a different way to the others. Combine this with multiple screen puzzles and moments where the dynamic duo are split up and this entry easily becomes one fo the best in the series!

Plot here seemed mainly like filler, but even if nothing much is developed, it's still a blast making your way through it. Reemus and Liam want to find out more about the Slugs and their origin, so they seek out a nearby parasite that lives off a killer worm. To get there though they'll have to contend with an aforementioned Death Slug, a thought exiled creature called a Gygax, bees that just aren't that helpful and a forest with a hunger for flesh! In what looks to become a staple of the series, the game ends on a cliff hanger that just urges you to seek out the next chapter!

Puzzles are once again fairly straightforward, although the fact that they are set in an unfamiliar environment may make them seem more confusing than they really appear. Conventional logic can be applied to solve all of the puzzles, a fact that must be applauded as it is easy for point and click adventure games to fall into the trap of making their puzzles obtuse and downright silly.

My one gripe with this latest entry is still the lack of voices for the characters, although this is fairly minor, the characters are already fairly solid and memorable, it would just be nice to hear them eventually. I dreads to think how much longer we may have had to wait if voices were added to this entry! The lack of an inventory screen can also be seen as a minus, but since each scene is pretty much self contained when it comes to puzzle solving, it seems almost redundant to have one. Especially if it was crucial to collect something in the first scene that was needed in a much later scene. I like the way Reemus and Liam improvise with the environment they have at hand to solve their problems.

All in all this is another fantastic entry in the Journeys of Reemus series, and was well worth the wait. Hopefully Zeebarf is able to get back on track with his original plan of a new chapter every month. Even if he doesn't, as long as the subsequent entries remain just as polished, I can guarentee that it'll be worth the wait!
