This right here sums up flawlessly how the internet and most unassuming people feel about this franchise. Snivly just injected Sonic with a serum that made him realize the horrors of the real world. At least that's what I can infer upon seeing this.
Even if you do make friends at some point, all it takes is for one confusingly tragic event to happen for the friendship to be shattered into pieces. Like the song says, "Are you bored with the life you created?" This applies to both people in real life you toss you away like garbage whenever they feel your purpose had been served, so to speak. You see it in America all the time, especially around fan circles.
This could also be an allegory to how the internet and most people who aren't fans of the franchise see Sonic, nothing but a pest that must be exterminated. And all the gross and horrid fan art that people see as being "official" certainly doesn't help things either.
Sorry if this is a little heavy, but I saw this animation years ago as a kid on a now defunct flash hosting site for Sonic flash games and animations. I never understood the true meaning behind this, but after relentlessly abuse from everyone in my personal life, it's almost frightening how well this applicable to the real world for something released on Newgrounds 15 years ago. Also, if you can, I'd recommend reading the fan comic this animation is based on with the same "Sonic Epilogue" name it's even more heartbreaking than this, honestly.
