The sequel is now up on Newgrounds - you can check it out by selecting the 'also by this author' in the bottom left.

A brand new version of the card game The Necronomicon, with a new game mode, and full of new art drawn up by various contributors. There are now 30 ranks to beat, and the game ends when either you get to 30 before your opponent, or they beat you up to rank 30.

Bug fixes, game changes and tweaks, and a whole new game mode called Challenge Mode. Defeat the opponent in a series of scenarios where the odds are stacked against you.

Also includes some rule changes and creatures now have additional abilities.

** NEW - . - MASSIVE update to how the cards are dealt out. Basically what happens now in the fix is that you both have a deck of whatever amount of cards are unlocked, and each card will be seen once by each of you. There will be no duplicate cards appearing until your deck has been exhausted and shuffled, and so the only dups you will see are the cards you held from the previous shuffle. Makes everything much more balanced.

Well worked out art (both sounds and graphics), and of course an "inviting" atmospehere. One of the reasons I really like it is that when I was a kid, we never had money to buy such (collectable) cards. The other reasons: fun, challenges, replayability, autosave mode, um... oh and the cards themselves :-D My 2 favorits were the Hound of Tindalos and Mad Experiment!

I really admire the way you planned this out, then made it intricate but easily comprehensible at the same time.

Better than the original!

This game is great! I loved the first one, but this one is better. The bugs are gone, and the cards even have new artwork. I like some of the old ones better, but it's not important. What is is this game is an awesome game based off the Cthulhu Mythos. I know you were talking about a deck editor and a multiplayer element, and I totally support these ideas. I just hope you bring in more cards. Keep up the good work!

Fantastic Game

Well done! Love the art and card choices, and the challenge mode is a great addition. I am a big fan of Lovecraft and the Cthulhu Mythos, and have really enjoyed both of these games, keep 'em coming.

Anyway, here's my two cents:

I love the fact that insanity plays such a role in the game, and I really like the random effects of going insane. However, the effects of insanity seem to be a bit off.

The Megalomania effect is perfect. More power while your life decreases works nicely and is great for strategy.

Xenophobia on the other hand doesn't seem to be too much of a hindrance since the monsters are singular, and can only counter-attack.

Schizophrenia just seems to negate a lot of choices, and really just makes a lot of cards useless. Doesn't really hurt the player, but just makes a lot of cards dead.

Agoraphobia is pretty interesting, but I think that when someone suffers this effect, the other cards should be face down.

In my opinion, going insane should carry a 50/50 chance of instant death for either the player or opponent.

It would be incentive to stay away from going insane except in a last resort.

Also, it'd be great to see more than one summoned monster available to attack at one time, and I think that the player should lose sanity for each round that he has one or more summoned monsters in play. (1 Monster -1, Two Monsters -2, Three Monsters -4, Four Monsters -8, etc.)

It would also be interesting if the monsters that were summoned had a chance to overtake the creator. After all, if you summoned Cthulhu, how likely is it that he'd obey your every beck and whim?

Also, it'd be pretty neat to be able to choose an archetype as you started, whose stats would increase each level accordingly. For instance:

Professor: (Higher sanity / Lower Life)

Detective: (Higher Life / Lower Sanity)

Occultist: (Greater magic bonuses / Special Insanity Effect)

Anyway, great game, it a lot of fun. Just make sure to include Pickman next time.

IA! IA! Cthulhu f'tagn!

This is a great game, I've enjoyed following it as it evolved! It's interesting how some of the weaker cards can become very powerful at the higher levels.

After playing for a couple of weeks, I had to create an account here just to vote for it and to thank you for such a great game!
