This is my latest Point and Click Adventure game set in an Ancient tomb, Can you find the treasures within? avoid the traps, figure out the puzzles and find the secret rooms??

All coded in SwishMAX with Graphics and Sound produced in Photoshop, Cinema 4D and FL Studio as usual

NOTE: This game contains an in-game Highscore system that is local to your computer, NOT an online's purely so you can beat your own scores etc ;-)

AXES: Go forward when the axe reaches its highest point away from the middle on either side...

DOTS: You MUST do them in order, if you miss one you have to do that one then the others that follow, Slower and more accurate can be just as good as fast and in-accurate!!

i.e if you miss 6 then go back to it, you still have to to do 7,8,9,10 as they ALL HAVE to be done in order!!

A good game with a classic frustration

This game manages to follow and implement classic adventure game elements with gusto and insight, but it also suffers from two of the usual adventure game sins, which all so many of them fall victim to.

First, a lot of the stuff becomes a pixel hunt, an excellent example being lighting the torches in that one scene - I won't get too much into the details so the review isn't a spoiler but I'm sure the author and anyone whose played through the game will know what I mean.

Secondly, several of the puzzles really leave you in the dark about how to solve them. While this makes the game more challenging it also is frustrating and robs some players of a sense of accomplishment when you solve the puzzle, as you end up thinking "well gee, that was so damn simple, why didn't I get that earlier?"

Just some thoughts. Oh, and to chime in agreement with those before me: the axes scene really IS pretty touchy. I managed to get by it simply by clicking forward till I managed it. There didn't seem to be a pattern to follow that worked. So fixing that as well could be beneficial.

Awesome game! :) Takes full advantage of flash!

It may just be a button-hunt with a few shooting gallery scenes added, but that doesn't stop it from being a fun romp. This game does just about everything you can do with a mouse, gameplay-wise, and it does it all quite well.

I only have a few nitpicks:

-In the math puzzle, the 8s and 9s look too much alike.

-The numbers are hard to see in the drawing-in-the-sand puzzle.

-I often missed a dot in the sand puzzle, even though it looked like I should have hit it. I suggest using Point.distance(p1,p2) to calculate how close the mouse cursor is to the next target, and if it's less than like 16 pixels or so, count it as a touch.

-Same thing with the torches you need to light in the hallway. I kept clicking on the torches but they wouldn't light. It was only by accident (and after trying all KINDS of other item combinations) that I discovered you need to click the space ABOVE the torch. Awkward. Maybe change it so that either way works?

(IM me if you need any more info on how to code it, but I have a feeling you're a great coder.)

These are extremely minor gameplay issues. Everything else about the game is great. Great graphics, great ambiance, great puzzles. The story is a little thin, but it works nicely in a "choose-your-own-adventure" kind of way. It certainly makes more sense than a millionaire shooting dinosaurs in a mayan temple and pushing giant stone cubes around with her chest. (Which is also made out of giant stone cubes.)

Excellent game, all around. :)

I couldn't get very far because the swinging axes would keep killing me. I tried to time it, but it seemed random. I suggest you fix them.

Psionic3D responds:

Well it's a simple case of timing when the axe is up at it's highest point, thousands of others have done it without it's not bugged!!

But thanks for the "0" rating after playing the game for less than a minute and getting stuck on an easy bit...

Very adventurous :D

surprisingly good for it's genre, you really get the tomb exploration feeling :P

very nice graphics, good puzzles and a fitting sounddtrack on top of an awesomely done theme make this an enjoyable 10/15 minutes.

And now for the critisim part:
The note you found at the end was really well done, awesome idea. It had me wondering what kind of infernal creature could be lurking in the tombs below. The bossbattle was well done, though i'd at least expected some kind of ancient creature instead of just a big spider. Also, it would be nice if the boss had multiple stages, and not just do the same thing. I did like the little addition of you only being able to damage it at a specific point for a short time, cancelling out the brainless "fire at will" type boss.

After the boss however, i was quite dissapointed by the ending.
There was plenty of opportunity for a cool "Let's get the f*ck out of here, NOW" scene. You should definately put that in.

Also, the game was relatively short. I'd really enjoyed it if you made more areas like the first one with the swinging axes. More boobytraps in the next version!
And I think you should make more of these "bosses" besides the spider, giving you different directions to go to for some variations and facing multiple bosses at the end of each tunnel.

Finally, the inventory. It was nicely done, but it seemed a bit of a detour to open the bag with the mouse, selecting the shovel with the mouse, shoveling dirt with the mouse, reopening the bag with the mouse, putting the shovel back... well, you catch my drift. Hotkeys would be nice.
Also, more -useful- items are always a plus. It could really be a nice addition to find some keystone-translation thingey or something, and remembering you have it and need it to solve a puzzle 10 rooms later.

Overall an exellent game, congrats.
