Gulo (48 Hour)

Author Comments

This game is one entry for the first SIGMA 48 hour game competition, held in Christchurch, New Zealand July 2008. The other entry is called "Escape the Lab".

The theme of the competition was "Sustainability". Oddly, both groups came up with concepts based on Blobs, though the game play is quite different. In this game "Gulo", you need to feed the monster by collecting the food and regurgitating it at him. But be careful, he is a picky eater and will not like it if you feed him too much of one kind of food.

Both groups started with 6 people, who came and went during the 48 hours.

The aim of the weekend was for the various local professional game studios, educational facilities and enthusiasts to collaborate of creating games. The first competition included people from Stickmen Studios, Def-Logic, Zodal, University of Canterbury, Christchurch Polytechnic Institution of Technology and Unlimited Paenga Tawhiti (a local high school that also hosted the event).

One of the criteria for judging the games will be number of plays through New Grounds. Another is the ranking from Newgrounds users. Enjoy...

Ps. Your feedback will contribute to the continued development of these games beyond the 48 hour competition.

Instructions:

Mouse move, left click to fire. Collect the colored balls and feed them at the monster. Be careful to balance his diet as too much of a good thing will have bad consequences!

OMG

I still cant belive you guys made this in those 20 hours
stupid people wanting to go home for the night (shakes his fist wildly)

nice one

Average.

Original Game style.

Gets boring fast though, it was fairly repetitive after a few minutes. Maybe if after a while the balls which you don't pickup and shoot were to hit the monster. This would create the need to shoot away unwanted colors as well.

I can't eat the colored ball

Is there anything else I should know to play the game? I like the colour of the game. :)

Very nice

Very entertaining and origonal. It's quite addictive.

Ha ha, fun!

Challenging and entertaining! The control of the little whatever can use tweaking, but the play is good. Not sure if I found trying to win more entertaining than blowing the fat bastard up.... :P
