ForkOut is a breakout game with four paddles: one on each side of the screen. Use the mouse cursor to move the paddles.

To change the direction of the ball, move the paddle while the ball hits the paddle!

Controls:

Mouse button: start moving the ball
Mouse movement: move the paddles
X button: go back to the menu
speaker button: toggle audio

Try to get as high as possible score on level 1, level 2 or a random generated level!

The name was originally intended to be "BreakOut4", but I changed the "four" into "fork" and put it in front instead, hence "ForkOut".

It's made with the Flex 3 SDK.

EDIT: About the problem getting a gif icon without transparent background color that should get accepted by NG: Thanks for the PM's about getting a working 46x46 pixel gif. I managed to do it by typing "convert icon.png icon.gif" in the bash terminal.

Bit of a learning curve...

It took me a bit of getting used to for the game to become enjoyable, but once I did, it was fun to play for a little while. The blocks on Level 1 were just a little too close to the paddles for a beginner like me.

Nice twist.

It was decent, to say the least. Some minor flaws though, like sometimes, the ball stayed on an almost straight path, and took forever for it to hit another block. and one time the ball stayed under a paddle and caused me to lose a life because it was stuck under there. Also, add some music.

The power ups were a nice addition to break up the monotony.

I can't really say that i've seen anything like this before.

Good job.

Interesting

I really like the idea. Maybe you could add some more levels in the future, improve the graphics, add some music etc. However, it might also be worth putting in "difficulty levels" that would change the distance between the paddles and the blocks.

Nicely done!

Haven't ever played a breakout game with four paddles, so this was definitely fu!. I'm sure if you used the same concept but beefed up the speed and graphics it'd be a front pager game in no time.

FUN!

THAT GAME IS REVOLUTIONARY!!!!!!!
