I had wanted to make this game for quite a while as the arcade game Gyrus was a real favourite of mine during the 90's. My version doesn't have the depth of gameplay as the original, but it was good fun to make. I was at this time struggling to come to terms with trignometry after not really paying attention in school.

Needs a Tune-Up
I like the nice clean graphics, great animation, and nice simple gameplay, and the fact that you could move in a circle, thought it was pretty cool(never played the original before).
However, there needs to be more powerups and better aiming..it's pretty hard to destroy the meteor without the rapid fire powerup due to the fact you need to shoot a number of shots to destroy it and you need to be far from it to vaporize it. A shop for weapons and armor would have great to spend all of those points. A plus would be adding a better death scene to the plane.
Yay, a good remake
Great use of flash. Very few succeed in remakes although you could of put more into it in the way of power up and stuff. Good job though.

Sometimes in life the classics are the best. I always loved the old arcade shooters.
Blast from the past!
ok, ok, it's missing a lot of level mechanics and enemy AI from the original Gyruss, but the gameplay is spot on. I did get hit a few times from leftover bullets as the 'level complete' was showing, might want to have it kill all bullets when the last enemy dies. For your intentions, tho, this is an excellent tribute.
