I've worked on abstracta a couple of weeks now, and I'm proud to present it on NG!

Abstracta is an attempt at translating classic game mechanics that I love into a unique and fluent new game experience. It starts simple: collect crystals, make combos, avoid the deadly mines, fight the four evil bosses - but it gets increasingly complex over time, as more powerups are unlocked.

Controls: Mouse to move. SPACEBAR to toggle menu.

Note: I found abstracta very immersive during development, to the point where I didn't get any work done because every time I tested a new feature I ended up playing 15 minutes, completely forgetting what I should be testing. Well, might be just me, but don't say I didn't warn you, it might be addictive ;)


Bit slow

Great Idea

Really Its a Great Idea, but the boss battle was a bit too slow paced [atleast the first] and the powerups seemed to far away due to unlocking them over time rather than by score. Great job making it although if it was a bit bigger it would be easier because it felt to small to me. I'm really impressed by the variations of powerups and creativity involved in this game, seriously good job and I'm awaiting your next flash.

abstracta: 10/10

Hell yeah! This is one of my favorite flash games ever. I easily spent the last hour playing it, and managed to get to #5 on the high scores. Where do I start... first off, there are tons of power-ups, which is the best. It's just such an original game. The boss battles were unique, but their difficulty varied. The first boss was tough because the missiles it shoots home in on you as they get closer to the bottom, resulting in many a lost life. The second boss wasn't tough at all and I didn't even lose a single life against it, however it was hard to hit and took a lot longer to defeat than the others. I didn't get past the third boss because by the time I got there I only had one life. I suppose it required some more dodging skills, but the entire bottom of the boss was flat and easy to hit. Oh and by the way, this is the first flash I've added to my favorite list so far. I look forward to playing this some more, which is more than I can say for a lot of the games here.
