Played this some time ago
I remember playing this sometime ago, and now that it's come back up in the treasure hunt, I'm not sure how much good this review will do.
But I had fun playing it, simply because I love the platform of this. It's a nice FPS style game and though simple, it offers a good bit of explorative fun.
Controls are a huge issue. The turning is a little too sensitive. It's difficult to make subtle movements in this thing and because of that targeting also becomes a difficult task. And due to the ammo restrictions, it actually is a painful task to aim and shoot and not miss because of the sensitivity.
The strafing definitely needs a fix. z/x is not a good combo with wasd controls. I have one of two suggestions - either Q/E as mentioned in an earlier review or a shift button to activate strafing for A/D controls. That would make a whole lot more sense. Or just allow players to customize controls themselves. That solves all the problems really. Quite frankly, you just put your fingers on the WASD controls, you can quickly see how impossible it is to actually press Z/X with the same hand. And while another solution is to put the strafe keys for the other hand, that's even worse. I personally suggest the shift key method mainly because I still find it uncomfortable pressing Q/E when reversing with the D key.
Aside from the controls, the 3D interface is very well done. Of course terrain could do with a little tweaking and certainly interactivity with the terrain would be awesome if possible. Like crates to pick up. I suggest looking at an old game - the 'Strike series' like Jungle Strike and Desert strike and pick up gameplay elements from there and see if they can be implemented into 3D.
Good work here.
