funny funny funny
gustavos you have made a funny video. its me a- austin and i will be watching the rest of the series soon. ps i have made an account on newgrounds. keep on making cool video
On Christmas Eve, I submitted a Christmas movie. After that, I tried to make three different movies, all of which failed due to certain problems. Today, March 8, I submit the first movie of a Nintendo story. Considering this is my second finished movie submitted to Newgrounds don't expect any amazing stuff. Then again, don't expect anything sucky because I've been working on my skills and I think this is a fairly good animation
Now since this is the first movie of a series, it's supposed to tell what the hell is going on. Ha! The plot hasn't even unfolded. The next movies will be much more exciting and enjoyable. It felt weird making a movie without a fight scene of any kind. I know the next will have a good one. I'm so happy I finished this before Brawl!
Also, this movie is completely frame by frame except for one obvious tween. Please watch and vote. And also reveiw fairly.
One more thing, I still consider myself a beginner with flash so if you have suggestions feel free to tell me in a reveiw or a pm. All flash artists need feedback, which is why they come to Newgrounds.
Runtime: two minutes and 37 seconds.
EDIT: Alright, this actually got a good score. Just missed the 3 mark.

could be better
well you know
heh. Yeah, sure.
Hmm... it's a start
Well, we can't knock the start of what's become a decent series, can we? I think that at the start of the procession, you did need more encouragement and hints and tips, but it seems that your hard work has paid off, looking at the later pieces now.
I can see that you need to work on explaining things in the grand scale of things - why not have Gustavos kicked in the joy department, so that would stop him from talking like a normal human being.
The plot was a little weak here and I think that it is something that you've built on, so we're talking less to worry over when it comes to making future episodes. Working on the animation would be the concern, by zooming in on the images and using a slightly smaller tool, you can achieve great results. Of course, for further tips, perhaps draw them and submit to the Art Portal?
Why weren't you wearing different colours from Luigi? Every different character in SMB has their own colour scheme, so why did you have to go and take Luigi's? I'd have liked to see you in Blue, for example.

I admit, this wasn't well thought out. And the storyline would have been TOTALLY different if I hadn't stopped and thinked about what should happen afterwards. I'm not entirely proud of this first episode, and it's likely my least favorite of anything I've ever done in flash (with the exception of my first "movie" that was blammed), but it was a good shot. The last time I saw this, I smiled a bit while watching. Maybe it was just remembering those lonely nights making each individual part, but really I found it moderately enjoyable. Not a lot, but worth watching for anybody who feels like taking the time to see the rest of the series.
But there was a reason behind the "Story so Far" button in my latest Episode 4. So that I could explain what was only hinted at in this episode. If viewers know what's going on here, than they can follow along.
I don't want to say that it was because I actually hate this movie. Because that's a lie. And more importantly, it would make me sound like a real artist. And I HATE how real artists and musicians and such, criticize their own work so that they can feel better when other random people flame it. It's stupid.
Oh, and about Gustavos actually being me. I'm afraid that's not what I wanted people to think, despite seeing it was inevitable. Gustavos in this story is a fictional character. But at least I didn't use my real first name. As Gustavos is just my internet alias. And occasional nickname.
What I would like to do, is incorporate my personality into all the main characters. In tiny little ways, that people otherwise shouldn't care about unless they find their cheeky dialogue funny.
And although it wasn't told all too clearly in this episode (again, I'm sorry.) Gustavos was hired by Nintendo to be the new Luigi. An actor. But first he would have to prove himself by killing the old Luigi. That grave in the very beginning with a body thrown in, was the old Luigi. So therefore, Gustavos has to be exactly like Luigi in every way. Sorry, no blue shirt. Has to be green.
It's cool you decided to take a look at the previous episodes for the hell of it. Even though you didn't have to. Thank you. :)
Would have given a 10 but....
Luigi is my favorite character, killing him didn't seem necessary.
Gustavo could have been an entirely new character.
The animation was great and the voices sounded like the actual game character.
Wouldn't it have been annoying if there were two Luigis? The only difference is one of them having a "G" instead of an "L" on the hat?
But don't sweat it. If you really like Luigi, you ought to see the next episode when I finish it. I have a big thing planned there for Mr. Gustavos.
Certainly an impovement
Well, there are definitely better things in the movie. You kept a consistent animation style (save the stick figure, but you did well -even funny- there "Lazy animator").
Well, let's see... the moving background (walking with the stick figure) wasn't well animated, making some things suddenly (diss)appear from(to) nowhere.
Also, there's a trouble there with the subtitles: sometimes the text can't be seen clearly even if I say you tried to put a shaded text box. Here I see two options: make a solid color text box or play with the scenes and make the color always is readable in the background (for example: in the last scene, if Mario talks -red- you can focus him with a white tablecloth so it can be seen, but when your talk -light green- you can see a row of beer glasses in the bottom of the screen... or only the wall paint... or a big beer stain in the tablecloth... or whatever... maybe I'll for the first option xD)
While I didn't like the movie too much (except Kirby), I believe you are getting better. Keep polishing your drawing skills and I hope to see another work from yours.
Oh indeed. It's been well over a month since I submitted this and because I had a rough deadline, well I became a very half-assed animator. The stick figure was no simple joke, I just couldn't think of a look for some guy. I've started on the second episode and I have done many things for the rest of the wonderful episodes I'll be making.
The next episode is nowher near done because I had very little time and I decided to make a short for the Metal Gear Collab and a short for the Resident Evil Collab which I haven't finished yet. If you want to see the Metal Gear short, it's the only link on my account page. My RE short is my best work yet with a wonderful sound arrangement and nearly done.
As for Nintendo Story, I made many characters look better (but the stick figure is, and always will be, a stick figure). I'm going to make funny little outakes which I never got a chance to make for this movie. And the plot will be partially revealed in the next episode which should be finished before June 13 (day when Summer break starts).
So, I have plans and good feelings for the future. Things are looking up. Thanks for the suggestions. Most of which I already fixed so far. And thanks for the review.
