Crypt is a game that I created recently using ideas from a spanish and an italian tutorial site. It has eight levels, a couple of bad looking zombies and okkie -dokkie graphics. I'm using this to see the interest in this kind of genre and will be deciding how much time and strength I should spend on Crypt II which I'll make if I find an appropriate response for this game.

Known Issues:
slight problem with the targetting system.
Problem with level 8 not showing, FIXED

CAUTION: I have to learn to implement OOP properly, untill then its upto your PC to process some 3k + lines of code that I've crammed into the game.

PS:It would be wonderful if someone could make an icon for this game, I've tried to make one but the NG system gives an error about transperency background or something. Just PM me if you'd like to help or use the link somewhere on this page that says help the author by creating an icon.

Game equals good, Drawing equals... not so good.

This game has good gameplay and definitely this great element of surprise which I like personally in shooter games. It is certainly harder to simulate surprise in 2d than in 3d, and you've done a great job with that, and simulating lighting, which is also a more 3d commodity. Your drawing was not that good. I zoomed in on the main character because from my view he looked a little more than a blob and indeed he was a skin colored blob with some blue. The zombies were also, as you correctly stated, drawn in the same fashion with some red and their corpses looked like a puddle of green-blue with also of red.

The gunshot sound was grainy and cut-off. I assumed he was wielding a pistol, which (in the lower calibres) makes a tinier loud noise and that particular sound was of a rifle or HC sniper weapon, and did not execute in concert with the muzzle flash. Though you did a good job with the flashlight, muzzle gas has a very noticeable flash, esp. in the dark. Keyboard actions were slow, but this can be fixed with a simple change of the digit you assigned to the speed variable. Finally, you should not make healing possible in each level because this would be more challenging, and more or tougher enemies with each level so as to eliminate "boring" complaints and increasing fun.

Your work is very thorough, and I expect to see more of this. Good job.

not bad

It's not that bad, kind of pointless just walking around shooting in the dark and it seems like the mouse movement needs to be tighter

chocolatechang responds:

Thanks for the review, I'll try to do something about the mouse movements in the sequel.

Ehhh

Not the BEST game.I mean, good for a first.
Tips:
Maybe some form of Tracker?Cause you really had to spin around to see something behind you.And control options.Maybe another gun,or wider flashlight.Like, little subtle upgrades that really help the player.

chocolatechang responds:

Thanks, I really appreciate the response, although could you please pm me and say something more about the tracker, I don't understand what you meant by "tracker" maybe it'll help me in the sequel.

Hmm?

Pretty good, horrible cover for it, lol but still it was pretty fun, Good Idea...just the controls were goofy, left handed controls blow. other then that it was good.

chocolatechang responds:

Thanks, I know the cover was horrible, I got so impatient making the game itself that I just put in a weird cover. I'll try a better one next time.
